Aren't We Miserable Souls

Aren't we miserable souls?

The sky is so near yet we have disabled ourselves

From marvelling at what it holds

It's beauty remains untold

And yet we complain about people and things

That are obstructing our view

We say that birds are lucky

For being able to fly so high above the rainbow

But we have been to the moon

We pollute the blue fields of heaven

And the body of our Mother Earth

So we seek beyond the stars

For we say it brings us mirth

Yet the reason that we shoot so high

Is merely to escape ourselves

And the hell-hole we've created

Yet the books on children's shelves

Display us as saviours; heroes

And ignore what we have done

To the planet they'll inhabit

Long after we are gone.

Aren't we miserable souls

Trying to militarize outer space

Ignoring the needs of the people on earth.

Aren't we miserable souls

Denying ourselves the beauty of the world

And destroying it whilst complaining about the lack of it.

Aren't we miserable souls

Hoping for saviours so our planet lives

Yet turning blind eyes to the so called heroes we have labelled.

Aren't we miserable souls

Ranting on the media about absent wonders on earth

Knowing that it will be gone soon yet keeping our eyes on computer screens.

Aren't we miserable souls.

A.N. The video is one of the best recitations of 'to be or not to be' I've ever seen. to be or not to be but Hamlet is a popular vlogger who frequently posts his breakdowns on YouTube.
