Reunion

A.N. This entire thing is abt heaven so y'all don't have to read it. This is for me.

One day we will be reunited again

All of us.

Except this time it will not be in the presence of a coffin.

There will be flowers

But not chrysanthemums

And not ones that are halfway to wilting.

There will be embraces

And perhaps tearful ones

But the tears

Will grow flowers for a never ending garden.

And I will not have to hold back tears

Because I will not need to be strong

For anyone, this time.

There will be music too,

But the strums of a guitar

Will resound from our hearts,

The chords from a piano

Will be sustained within our souls,

The sultry beat of drums

Will be the beat of the wings of angels.

And we will be united above the rainbow

It won't be just song.

I will finally meet my uncle

I will hold conversation with my grandfather.

And there will be a gentle, low, smooth voice

Booming gentle words of cheer and consolidation

Except this voice will belong to a divine being.

I believe we will all be reunited in Heaven,

Because if I didn't

We would never be united.

When we are united

There will be no more fluorescent lights

We will smile at the sight of the sun

And we will not run from it,

But we will embrace its warmth

For we are together

And nothing will matter anymore.

When we are reunited,

A chorus of angels will accompany us

When we are singing the Hymns.

When we are singing and playing guitars,

When we are laughing and eating here,

Although it is in your presence

It feels like you should be here.

It feels like you are missing from us.

I want to ask you to come back

But I know you will not.

I will have to wait until we are reunited.

When we are reunited,

I will tell you everything,

I will talk to everyone again.

We will sing together again,

We will dance and laugh together once more

And it will not end

Because in heaven

Life's boundaries will not separate us.

When I walked up to his coffin

And put a hand on his chest

It was cold.

When I walked up to his coffin

They told me to say goodbye

But instead I said goodnight,

Because I believe he will wake again

And one day, when he wakes

I will be there too.

When we are reunited,

We will be together forever.

Not if but when

Because I know we will meet again.
