Wire

Enveloped by the sky

We're all balanced on wires.

I'm waiting for the moment

When I finally fall.

Level with the clouds,

If I jumped off the wire

Would there be anyone

To notice at all?

This feeling, it's thrilling

To be here in the sky

Above the rainbow

Where all the bluebirds sing.

Everything's perfect

Until you look down

And realise you're far away

From everything.

Until the moment you fall,

The sky's your friend.

Don't lose your balance

Or it all will end.

Once people see

You're threatening to fall

Suddenly, they want nothing

To do with you at all.

The sky is for those

Who can fly gracefully,

Not those who cower

When the storm clouds come.

Now there are tryouts to see

If you can live above the rainbow.

The sky is good

But only to some.

They want the best

Not your best.

So don't slip

Keep your head held high

And take a sip

Of the poison your mind pours for you

And wonder why

You feel so sick.

But don't let anyone see through

The facade you put up

That is as thin as a wire

That you balance on somehow everyday.

How long until they see?

How long until you fall?

How long until the pressure leads you astray?

And your footing finally slips up,

And you plummet towards the earth,

And the Sun looks away,

And the ground gets nearer,

And your time is up
