27 harrisons big news

i head down to the cafe across the road and grab an iced coffee which i sit in and drink, watching the bondi foot traffic pass in front of my eyes.

i end up chatting to the barista there while she made my drink and she was lovely. her name is amy and we got chatting about life. she asked what i was up to for the day which lead to what i do for a living and then that lead to talking about surfing - something both her and i share a passion for. "i have my break in like ten minutes. do you want to maybe hang out for a bit?" she asks and i nod. while i wait for her to finish, i drink my coffee and soon enough she comes and sits next to me.

we spend twenty minutes talking and she shouts me another iced mocha which i thank her kindly for. we exchange numbers and she lets me know what days she works and we plan on meeting up in the next couple of days to go surfing and show each other how we do it. i say a big goodbye to her and she heads off back to work while i head back to my apartment.

within seconds of being inside i hear my phone ring and it's jesse.

e - yo, what up?
j - hey el, how was your trip?
e - amazing! did you know about it?
j - god yes, harrison wouldn't shut up about it! he was worrying everything was going to turn out wrong but by the sounds of it, it went well
e - yeah! it was a really nice few days away. what did you get up to?
j - not a lot. caught up with tullie. i don't know if you know but uh i'm proposing to her tomorrow
e - jesse no way! that's so exciting! aw i'm so happy for you! i hope she says yes
j - thanks el, i hope she does to
e - there's like a 0.0001% chance she'll say no, so you'll be fineeeee
j - i hope you're right
e - aw jess i'm so excited for you! you have to tell me everything when we see each other next
j - i will do, for sure.
e - i better be the first to hear!
j - okayyyy haha, um i actually ring to see if you knew where harrison is
e - nah i'm not sure sorry. he's not unpacking the ute?
j - nah, i went down and it looks as if everything's out of the ute. all the cooks stuff is out, the tent is during and your surfboards are away but the utes not here and he's not picking up his phone
e - that's weird, he always picks up
j - i also rung maxi see if he's at the tower but he's not there. and it's weird that he didn't tell me where he was going. like we were literally in the same house and next minute he's gone
e - let me give him a call and i'll call you back after wards
j - okay thank you el
e - talk to you soon

i hang up and sit on the couch and call harrison. i'm not too worried about where he is, he's probably just gone to grab some groceries or hit the shops or something but the way jesse was going about it made it seem like it was a bit more of a serious situation. harrison doesn't pick up and it goes straight to his answer phone which i don't hear to much of as he's always picking up his phone on the second ring. i text him and then decide to ring him ice again when finally he picks up.

h - hey el, what's up
e - hey, uh jesse and i were just wondering where you were
h - oh i just had to head to an urgent meeting
e - a meeting?
h - yeah uh gamin australia want to partner with me
e - so like you're an ambassador for them?
h - yeah aha, you know how reidy is partnered with them?
e - yeah
h - well he was telling them about how we are doing this marathon and they were keen to meet me and so they ring me and asked if i could meet them like straight away so i left so meet them
e - and now you're doing what reidy is doing with them?
h - yep. that's gonna be me
e - harrison that's amazing! i'm so proud of you baby
h - thanks el, can i come swing by later?
e - of course love, i'll be home all afternoon
h - well i'll be around in a bit an hour
e - okay i'll see you later
h - love you, bye
e - byeee

straight away i ring jesse backs and tell him that harrison was at a meeting and that he'll explain everything when he gets back. this is exciting news for harrison so i'll let him tell everyone.
