AN: So much time is spent on the main and secondary characters. This one is about someone who works behind the scenes.

YN is preparing for his war against the "godless heathens". He spared no expense, he had three warlord class titans and three million Krieg guardsmen, two million Mordian iron guard, in addition to two million Maccabian Janissaries. He has also pulled in the Death's Head Crusaders, his old outfit, and the Indefatigable, it is fully equipped. Needless to say, this is a huge bureaucratic and supply headache, especially for one man. The twenty eight year old Second Lieutenant Verner Gangele who is the primary supply officer.

Gangele: Supply officer Gangele, how may I help you?

Krieg Commissar: My unit needs replacement charge packs.

Gangele: Send me the specifications and I will get to it as soon as possible.

Krieg Commissar: The emperor protects.

Gangele: The emperor protects.

Gangele finishes the paperwork for that order. Just then his phone rings again.

Gangele: Supply officer Gangele, how may I help you?

Iron Guardsman: I need a new uniform cleaning kit and a sharpening stone for my sword bayonet.

Gangele: Send me the specifications and I will get to it as soon as possible.

Iron Guardsman: The emperor protects.

Gangele: The emperor protects.

The same deal as last time, Gangele finishes the paperwork for that order and his phone rings again.

Gangele: Supply officer Gangele, how may I help you?

Janissary: I need some paint for my armor.

Gangele: Send me the specifications and I will get to it as soon as possible.

Janissary: The emperor protects.

Gangele: The emperor protects.

More paperwork for Gangele, this guy just can't get a break.

Gangele: (sigh) Supply officer Gangele, how may I help you?

Iron Guard Commissar: My unit needs new buttons for their uniforms.

Gangele: Send me the specifications and I will get to it as soon as possible.

Iron Guard Commissar: The emperor protects.

Gangele: The emperor protects.

Gangele does the paperwork and his phone rings again.

Gangele: Supply officer Gangele, how may I help you?

Krieg Commissar: Me again, my unit needs replacement filters for their gas masks.

Gangele: Send me the specifications and I will get to it as soon as possible.

Krieg Commissar: The emperor protects.

Gangele: The emperor protects.

Same routine, paperwork and another phone call.

Gangele: (sigh) Supply officer Gangele, how may I help you?

Iron Guard Commissar: Me again, my unit needs new mess kits and some new boots.

Gangele: Send me the specifications and I will get to it as soon as possible.

Iron Guard Commissar: The emperor protects.

Gangele: The emperor protects.

Gangele then finishes the paperwork and he proceeds to go to the mess hall and get some herbal tea to drink while he reads his book on his half hour break.

Gangele: (in head) Join the supply corps they said, it would be easy they said. I have won no medals but I have twelve citations for excellent work. (out loud) I want to see actual action, a chance to be in a battle.

At that moment, as if by some higher power a poster is put up, Gangele, with nothing better to do, goes to check on it. It reads "Officers wanted! The Imperium needs you for the new war against the heretics! Positions that need to be filled are in supply units for the Krieg artillery, supply units for the Indefatigable, and postings as supply officer for the Emperor's personal guard.

Gangele: (In head) I know it's a long shot, but I have to try for the posting as a supply officer for the Emperor's bodyguard. It's practically the dream job of everyone in my department.

Gangele gets his resume together and he puts it on the desk of the Emperor. The resumes for the applicants aren't supposed to go to the desk of the Emperor right off the bat, but due to a mix up, Gangele's resume ended up on YN's desk. This may sound odd, which it is, but it isn't uncommon for things to get mixed up right before a war.

YN read his resume and he wasn't impressed, but he wasn't disappointed. Gangele is an above staff officer but a below average soldier. He barely passed the shooting test, although he is surprisingly physically fit for a desk worker. However his record as a bureaucrat was enough to impress YN.

As to be expected, Gangele wanted the job although he doubted he would ever get it. So he was extremely surprised when a envelope with gold lettering was on his desk.

Gangele: What the hell is this? (opens letter) (in head) You have been selected to serve as the supply officer for the Emperor's personal guard. This letter is also to congratulate you on your promotion to Major. (out loud) WOOOHOOO! I've been selected as the supply officer for the Emperor's personal guard! And I've been promoted.

Guy next cubicle over: Shut up Gangele.

Gangele: I could have you punished for insulting a superior officer Craig.

Craig: Shut up Gangele, besides I outrank you. You are a second lieutenant while I am a captain.

Gangele: Not anymore (shows letter) I'm a Major now, and I am one of the emperor's personal bureaucrats!

Craig: (reads letter) Shit, sorry sir, it won't happen again.

Gangele: That's what I thought. (self satisfied smug smile)

Gangele then goes home and tells his wife and kids the good news.

Gangele: Lesil, Hans, I've got some wonderful news.

Lesil: What is it honey?

Hans: Yea dad, tell us.

Gangele: I've been promoted to Major and I am going to be working on the Emperor's staff!

Lesil: That's wonderful news!

Hans: Does this mean that you will meet the Emperor?

Gangele: Probably.

At that moment he hears a knock on the door and Gangele goes to check who it is.

Nathan: Corporal Nathan Grau reporting for duty. I am to be your new chauffeur.

Gangele: New chauffeur?

Nathan: Yes sir, I am to be the driver of your staff car.

Gangele: Staff car?

Nathan: Yes sir, it comes with your promotion. I have been instructed to take you to the Imperial Palace of Beacon. Pack your bags, from there you are most likely going to space to help oversee the grand war we are about to wage.

AN: They are in Vale by the way.

Gangele: Am I going to meet the Emperor?

Nathan: Probably, I can't say for sure though. I'm just a corporal, they don't tell me this stuff.
