Arachnophobia

After the whole 'Tunnel of Love' incident on her first quest with Percy, Annabeth was determined to get over her fear of spiders.

Be logical, she would remind herself. They're smaller than the cells in your body and they probably can't even climb up your ankle before you notice. After some time, she really believed she was over it. She was thirteen, after all, and that little phobia had been getting old.

Then, one day, her and Percy were sparring. Annabeth would never admit this, but he was the most fun to spar out of everyone. He would start off all cocky, making somewhat lazy moves, saying that he'll, 'take it easy on her'. When she swung not so lazily, his eyes would darken fast and his whole face would shift from amusement to his battle expression.

They were going at it, really fighting each other hard, when Annabeth spotted something in the corner of the room. She dropped her dagger immediately, horrified. Percy stopped too, stepping close to her and asking if something was wrong. She might've blushed at how worried he was if the little demon wasn't crawling on the wall. It was inching closer to the vent by the second. Probably trying to find some way to the Athena cabin, she thought.

He followed her ray of vision and stepped towards the wall, visibly relaxing when he saw the problem. His sea-green eyes twinkled. Annabeth blinked at him. Was he...smiling? At a time like this?

"Don't worry, Wise Girl," he said, laughing. "I'll be the hero, once again." Pressing his thumb against the spider, Percy smiled victoriously. Annabeth was horrified, but sighed in relief when he brushed it off, only crumbs of the beast left. She ran up to him, threw her arms around him quickly, but pushed him off right after. It reminded her of the time he had turned into a guinea pig. Idiot, she thought. An idiot who just saved your life, she told herself.

"Thanks," she mumbled, looking down at her toes. Percy just smiled.

"Anytime."

I'm so sorry if you were expecting something, like, more, but I've been really busy with homework and soccer and music. Anyways, this was just a drabble set in the summer after the Sea of Monsters quest. I actually really like the Sea of Monsters era because there was some MAJOR Percabeth and I feel like that's when things really started to form. So, yeah, sorry for rambling, but thanks for reading and I'll be updating soon, promise !
