Annabeth knows this is a bad idea.

How she ended up kissing Percy Jackson, the school bad boy and probably the guy with the most marks on his absent chart, she doesn't know.

It all started with tutoring...which turned into Percy smirking up at her occasionally, which turned into Annabeth staring at him for a bit too long in the hallway, which turned into this.

She smiled as his lips kissed hers sweetly. Annabeth had always imagined their kiss would be all heat and fire (not that she'd imagined it...shut up) but the kiss was actually nice and slow-moving.

The butterflies in Annabeth's stomach grew intensely. She'd always been worried that a guy like Percy could just manipulate her, eventually leading her to do things she didn't want to do. Instead, Percy was kissing her like there was no one else in the world, like she was the most important person in the world to him.

And, maybe the kiss was in the back of the library, but Annabeth couldn't force herself to care if she tried.

She ran her hands through his hair, messing it up a little. He tightened his arms around her waist.

After a few minutes, Percy pulled back. Annabeth removed her hands from his hair and straightened up. He held her hands gently.

"So," he began. "That was something."

Annabeth laughed nervously. "Yeah."

"Is this going to be a thing?" Percy asked. "Are we..."

She knew what he was asking. Would they be together? Could they be together?

Annabeth stepped closer to him and pulled on his t-shirt collar.

"I want us to be," she admitted.

Percy hummed as she kissed his cheek slowly.

"Me too."

Silence passed between the two teenagers before Percy said, "but we shouldn't. We're not supposed to be interested in each other."

Annabeth sighed, "exactly."

Percy leaned his head forward, kissing her lips lightly. When he pulled back, he rested his forehead on hers.

"I want to be with you, Annabeth," he whispered. "I really, really like you. And I know I don't deserve you but I promise I would make you the happiest girl in the world."

Annabeth smiled at Percy because she knows. And...she already is the happiest girl in the world.

"I really like you too, Percy."

He keeps on staring at her. She took a deep breath before she said, "and I want to be with you. Seriously. I just don't know what I'll do about our friends..."

Surely, their friends would disprove of them being together. Annabeth knew that.

Her best friends didn't like Percy because he was a bad boy, and his didn't like her because she was too preppy and good.

"Fuck what they think," he said. "I'm rooting for us."

Annabeth kissed Percy again.

She knew things wouldn't be easy. She knew some things were about to change.

But...she also knew that Percy would be by her side. And she knew that their connection was real and strong.
