"We need to talk to you," Aang spoke loudly.
Long Feng's frown deepened. His plans had failed, he never meant for us to get this far. But we got here, and we're gonna try our hardest.
Long Feng turned to the king, "They're here to overthrow you."
Sokka stepped towards them, "No! We're on your side, we're here to help."
"You have to trust us," Katara said.
The Earth King stood from his throne. He looked younger than the other kings we'd met. His hair was dark brown and in a long braid down his back, and he wore small glasses over his eyes. Contrary to what I would've thought, his robes didn't look extremely king-like. They were simple, green, and yellow. He also had a long jade bead necklace on.
He looked reasonable, it was Long Feng who was the problem.
But the king didn't look happy either, "You invade my palace, lay waste to all my guards, break down my fancy door, and you expect me to trust you?"
His voice also sounded from that of a younger person.
"He has a good point," Toph whispered to us.
"If you are on my side, then drop your weapons and stand down!" The king sat back down into his throne.
We're here to prove we're on his side, so we dropped our weapons. Toph's boulder fell to the ground with a large thud. Sokka dropped his sword, Katara put her water away and Aang let his staff drop in front of him. I lowered my incredibly dangerous fists.
Then Aang opened his mouth, and chuckled nervously, "See, we're friends, your earthiness."
Oh boy.
The king frowned at us. Then the Dai Li extended their palms and their stone fists clasped all of our hands behind our backs.
This may take longer than we thought.
"Detain the assailants!" Long Feng ordered the Dai Li.
The Dai Li stood behind us with their hands behind their backs.
"But we dropped our weapons, we're your allies," Sokka said.
"Make sure the Avatar and his friends never see daylight again," Long Feng ordered them, ignoring Sokka.
The king turned to Long Feng, shocked. He had let something slip, no one in Ba Sing Se could not be amazed by meeting the Avatar, not even the king.
"The Avatar?" He asked us, searching each one of us with his eyes, trying to find out who it was.
He landed on Sokka, "You're the Avatar?"
"Uh, no. Him," Sokka looked over at Aang.
Aang smiled and waved, bringing his hand out of the cuffs and then slipping it back in.
Of course Aang and Toph could break out of the cuffs easily, they were just being respectful.
Long Feng wheeled back around to the king, "What does it matter, your highness? Their enemies of the state."
The king thought for a moment. The bear who had been sitting next to him, came up next to Aang and licked his cheek. This must've been the bear we saw at the palace party.
The King's eyes brightened, "Though Bosco seems to like him, I'll hear what he has to say."
Long Feng glared at Aang as he stepped forwards, "Well, sir, there's a war going on right now. For the past one hundred years in fact. The Dai Li's kept it secret from you. It's a conspiracy to control the city, and to control you."
