You were sat in a chair in your favourite café, in your usual spot. You were waiting for Changbin to arrive as you were going to work on a project together. You had ordered your favourite drink, coffee. To say you liked coffee would be an understatement, you were addicted to it. You didn’t know exactly what it was about it that attracted you so much, but whatever it was it pulled you in. The waiter came with your coffee, making your sense of smell awaken. The smell of freshly brewed coffee was your favourite, bitter, but still sweet. Since Changbin was a bit late you took a sip of your coffee and started on the project, since it was due soon.

As you were writing you were starting to feel insecure about what was written on the paper in front of you, realising that you didn’t know as much about the subject as you thought you did. You felt nervousness and anxiety flowing through your body. You got the waiter´s attention and ordered another cup of coffee, hoping it would get your mind off of things. Right as the waiter came with your second cup of coffee, Changbin walked in and sat down across from you. He ordered what he wanted before he opened his laptop and started writing on the project as well. You both exchanged small talk, but both focused on the project. As you had been friends for a very long time, you both knew each other well enough to know that you both needed silence to be able to work seriously.

After your second cup of coffee was empty you were trying to get the waiters attention to order a third one, when Changbin stopped you. “Hey, maybe you should slow down a little. I know you love coffee and all but I think you have had enough for today.” You just ignored him and ordered another cup. “I am old enough to take care of myself, thank you very much.” You huffed, going back to your writing. As you had already ordered he didn’t bother trying to convince you otherwise. You both continued writing and it eventually became a little late. Both of your drinks were finished and you noticed fatigue taking over you. You told him you were tired and wanted to go home. He agreed and the two of you packed up your things and left the café. He walked you home, as he lived close by. He delivered you home safely and you immediately went to your bed where you tried to fall asleep.

Time passed and you had been trying to fall asleep for ages, but hadn’t been able to. The clock read 2 am. You decided to look over what you wrote for the project, since you weren’t able to fall asleep either way. Turning on your laptop, you opened the file and started reading though it. You realised a lot of mistakes you had made and the anxiety came right back to you. You felt dizzy and started to breathe heavier than normal. You checked your heart rate, and it felt a lot faster than normal. Panicking you did the first thing that came to your mind. Calling Changbin.

There were a couple of rings before Changbin answered “Y/n, what do you want at this ungodly hour?” In his lightly husky voice. “Changbin, can you come over?” Was all you managed to mutter out. He heard how unsteady and heavy your voice was. “I’ll be right there.” He said and hung up. You got yourself a glass of water, trying not to fall over from your light dizziness. You sat down on the couch in your living room, slowly drinking you water while waiting for Changbin. Not long after the doorbell rang, meaning Changbin had arrived. “Are you okay? What happened?” He said as he lightly held your shoulders. “I’m cold, let´s go to my bedroom.” He just followed you in, as you covered yourself in your duvet.

“I don’t know what’s happening with me today. I have never felt like this before Changbin. It started out with me being nervous about the project followed up by anxiety. Then the fatigue came and now I can’t sleep. Since I couldn’t sleep I decided to look over the project, and realised I did a lot of stupid mistakes. The anxiety came back, my heart beat increased and I just got really scared. I just don’t want to be alone right now.” You said tears forming in the corners of your eyes. Changbin came a little closer to you, lightly patting your head. “I will stay with you, ok? I'll be right by your side, so you don’t need to worry anymore.” You were so happy to have a friend like him. “Thank you.” You said leaning onto his chest.

“I also think I know the reason to all of this. I have been suspecting this for a while. Y/n, I think you drink way too much coffee. All of the things you mentioned, fatigue, increased heartbeat, anxiety, nervousness and insomnia. They are all side effect of a high caffeine intake. I know you love coffee, but you clearly need to slow down.” You just sighed. “But coffee is so good. How am I going to quit drinking my favourite thing in the entire world.” You said feeling defeated. “You don’t need to quit, you just need to reduce the daily amount. I will help you find something else to replace it, that won’t give you side effects. I will also be with you every step of the way, okay? I will make sure you won’t even notice that you’re consuming less coffee.” You loved hearing how much he cared for you. “Thank you.” Was all you said before falling asleep on his chest.
