"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you.. Happy birthay, happy birthday, happy birthday Bea!" They sang in unison while clapping their hands.

"Make a wish, anak." mommy said beside me.

I closed my eyes to make a wish and blow the candle.

"Happy sweet sixteenth birthday, hija." Lola Elizabeth greeted me.

"Thank you po, lola." I said and kissed her cheeks.

Lahat sa table nila ay binati ako. Tita Evelyn, Tito Xaviar, and Scarlett. 

"Hijo, greet her." Lola said to him.

Hayes looked at me coldly. "Happy birthday." he lazily greeted me.

"Thank you." I shyly said.

Scarlett is a dear childhood friend of mine. We are in the same age. She's tita Evelyn and tita Xaviar's daughter. Hayes is her older brother, same age as my Kuya Zach. They are both 19. And lola Elizabeth is tito Xaviar's mother and I am very close to her. She is treating me like her real granddaughter. Their family and mine know each other for a long time.

"Bea, let's go. Our friends is waiting for you." Scarlett said at hinila na ako agad. Hindi man lang ako nakapagpaalam sakanila.

"Ganoon na talaga yon si kuya, pasensya ka na." sambit niya.

Ngumiti ako sakanya at tumango. "Ayos lang yon Scarlett. At least kahit papaano binati naman ako ng kuya mo." sambit ko at pilit na tumawa.

"Napaka manhid talaga ni kuya. Hindi man lang niya maramdaman na may gusto ka sakanya." naiinis niyang sambit.

Tinakpan ko ang bibig niya. "Huwag ka ngang maingay baka mamaya may makarinig pa sayo. Crush lang naman yon, tsaka mas matanda sakin iyon. And he even has a girlfriend now." I said in a lower tone.

"Whatever, Bea. Age doesn't matter and I really like you for my brother. Even mommy, daddy, and lola likes you for him." she said.

I smiled. "Matagal lang tayo magkakilala at magkasama kaya ganoon. Kahit naman gaano niyo ako kagusto para kay Hayes siya pa rin ang pipili ng magugustuhan niya." I explained.

That's true. We can't force anyone to like us back. Kahit gaano tayo kagusto ng taong nakapaligid satin para sakanya, nasa kanya pa rin ang desisyon kung sino ang gugustuhin niya. He has his own feelings and no one can dictate who is to like and not.

My birthday went well. The party is already over and we are now ready to rest. It was really tiring. I even opened so many gifts and did not receive a gift from him.

It is okay. It doesn't matter anyway at least he came and greeted me personally. That's what important , right?

"Bea, do you like my gift?" she asked.

I smiled big and nod. "Yes! Thank you, really. But how did you buy it? It is expensive!" I asked. Maybe, she asked money from her parents?

"Of course not! I saved money from my baon." aniya at tinaas baba pa ang kilay na parang proud na proud sa ginawa.

"Really? Thank you!" I said and we both laugh. Hindi ganoon kadaling magipon kasi magastos yan. She gave me pink instax and I really love it.

Dumating na yung teacher namin kaya tumahimik na kami. We are grade 10 students and will be having a moving up ceremony next month.

"Sa bahay ulit tayo." yaya sakin ni Scarlett.

"Nakakahiya na, lett. Sa bahay naman namin, ano?" sambit ko.
