Author's note: Health took another dip. In the hospital. I'll be discharged on Friday and I'll try to update as regularly as I xan. Next few chapters will be full of fluff, figuratively and literally. Enjoy.

Chapter One Hundred and Forty One

Wolf time.

I don't know what I was expecting when Bash and I finally went downstairs, but this most certainly had not been part of my wildest imagination in any stretch or measure.

The converted library that Diana had mentioned wasn't actually a library at all, it was a huge but cozy room with the softest, squishiest floor I'd ever set foot on in my life. Plush furniture lay everywhere in piles, mostly just beanbag chairs and a huge, soft-looking couch.

The whole room was styled in dark, soothing browns and muted greens with the dimmest of lighting to enhance the oddly calming vibe. Everywhere I looked were piles of pillows on pillows with soft, thick, feather-stuffed blankets that lay strewn about in the corners.

Everywhere you looked was some place that seemed perfect for curling up in and napping.

There was even a structure built into the wall with a deep but very low overhang to mimic an artificial cave. This room was something that a child, a very young and energetic child, would probably have a field day with since it was quite literally a fort-building paradise.

When I walked into the room for the first time, my jaw dropped, and not just because of how different it was to the rest of the house... it was because I saw literally everyone in some variation of pajamas or underwear just standing around and talking to each other.

Diana was wearing a a soft and modest baby blue nightgown with long sleeves, Cassidy was dressed in a lacy and somewhat racy silken slip that only stretched down to her angular knees, Kyle was wearing what looked like one of Richard's t-shirts with a pair of blue boxers proudly boasting happy-looking teddy bears. Richard himself was almost completely naked, only wearing a single pair of black briefs that did little to hide the monster he was obviously packing.

I blushed and turned my attention on Tiffany, Jun, Woody, and Leo.

Woody was shirtless, wearing only a familiar pair of plaid slacks, and Tiffany... well, she was clad in one of his huge shirts and some boxers that I was one hundred percent sure were not her own, just like Kyle. Leo was garbed in simple grey sweatpants, and Jun had, to my immediate surprise, exchanged his hooded sweatshirt for a long-sleeved green baseball shirt.

Hair hung around his face and down to his shoulders in messy ebony waves.

I looked around but didn't see Jak, Horst, or any of the other wolves they'd brought back.

"Where are the Derkshires?" I asked. "Aren't Jak and Horst going to be joining us?"

"They're not part of the pack, officially, so no," Richard snorted. "This is a family thing."

I frowned, momentarily feeling a surge of dislike.

Jak and Horst had really come around recently and they'd done their best to help all of us when things had turned bad. They hadn't had ulterior motives, they'd done it simply because they'd wanted to get everyone out of that nasty situation. Didn't that basically make them family?

"They're guarding the house with their ears blocked off," Leo said a little more gently; however, after a second he frowned. "Can you hypnotize people if they can't hear you? Even if you make eye contact?"
