John Shelby - Forbidden Love

You and John had been bestfriends ever since you were children. He had saved you from being bullied at school and ever since then,he stuck with you and you both became fast friends.

At 16 years old,John knew he was in love with you. He knew this by the way he'd catch himself smiling at you everytime you spoke or laughed,he automatically look for you in a big crowd,he knew he would do anything and everything for you.

At 25 years old,John knew he should have told you that he was in love with you. He should have told you the way his heart sped up everytime you were close to him but he couldn't find the right words to say. He always thought that you loved him back but were too scared to say anything and when you finally got together you'd both laugh and kick yourselves for not telling each other sooner.

You ran down the dark street in your Pyjamas,desperate to get to your bestfriends house. When you finally arrived,you flung the door open and ran up the stairs. Tommy and Polly never minded,you had been doing it ever since you were young. Opening the door to John's bedroom,you saw him sat on his bed. A smile graced his face when he saw you but it quickly washed away when you ran to him and tackled him for a hug,hearing you sob into his shoulder. He rubbed circles on your back and used his thumb to rub circles on your head - an action that always seemed to calm you down.

"What's wrong,Princess?" He slowly pulled you off his shoulder so he could wipe stray tears away. You took a deep breath and looked at John's concerned face for the first time.

"He's making me get married. He's making me get married and move away,John" your head dropped and you shook your head lightly,biting back the sobs that wanted to escape.

"Your father?"

"Yes. He's forcing me to get married to some guy,he won't let me back out of it. I don't want to marry him, I love you John"

John froze at your words. The words he had been wanting to hear since he was 16 years old. The words he had been too scared to say to you.

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to hear them. Guess I should have said them sooner" John let out a sad laugh and placed his hand under your chin,raising your head to make him look at you.

"Y..you love me as well?"

"I have done since I was 16,Y/N. I was too scared to tell you but maybe if I had then we wouldn't be in this position now" you hugged John again as he pulled you into his lap. Your head rested on his shoulder and your tears soaked his shirt.

"I'm gonna miss you,John. Maybe one day we will meet again and can have a chance?" You felt John kiss the top of your head and nod slightly.

"In the back of my mind,you'll always be mine. I'll look for you first in the next life" he could feel tears pooling at the bottom of his eyes but he wasn't going to show them,he needed to be the strong one for you both. He lifted your head slightly and placed a gentle but sweet kiss on your lips.

"Our first kiss" he whispered as he rested his head on yours. A small smile tugged on your lips but quickly vanished with your next words.

"And our last. I should go home. Goodbye John,take care of yourself and know that I will always love you"

John watched as you walked out the door. He listened for the front door to shut and when he finally heard it,he sat on the edge of his bed and finally let his tears loose. He let every single feeling he ever had,escape with his tears. He had never known pain like this before. He lost you. Watching you walk away was the hardest thing he ever had to do. He couldn't fight for you,there would be no way to win.

The door to John's bedroom slowly creaked open,John's eyes shot up towards the door hoping that you had come back. His jaw clenched in an attempt to stop the tears when he saw it was Arthur.

"I heard everything. Are you okay brother?" He sat on the bed next to John. John didn't say a word,he didn't need to. Another tear slipped down his cheek,Arthur grabbed his shoulders and pulled him in for a hug. John held on to his brothers coat like his life depended on it,the sound of his sobs were muffled as his head was buried into his brothers shoulder.

"You're gonna be okay,John. I promise"
