This one should be interesting. So, Varian THINKS he's "in love" with Cassandra. But, once he meets "you", his feelings change (Warning!: This could be very cheesy or just cringe but here you go! XD)

~

You were helping Cassandra set up for the Science Expo. She was currently hanging up the banner while you were cleaning up the stages.

You always wish you could be part of the Science Expo, even if you had barely any knowledge of science. But nope, your stuck being a "lady in waiting" with your older sister Cassandra.

Cassandra wanted to be part of the royal guard, but of course, dad had to make her Rapunzel's lady in waiting. It seemed that this whole thing kept you from doing the things you love to do the most. You felt bad for Cass and she felt bad for you.

As you were deep in thought, you snapped out of it when you heard a young boy's voice call out to someone. "Who's ready for the expo?" You turn to see a boy with something covered in a white sheet beside him, standing near the ladder Cassandra was standing on.

"Hey, Cassie! You wanna see my new invention? Rumor has it, it is a showing for the first prize of the contest. I started the rumor."

You've heard of this boy before. From Rapunzel of course. She told you all about how he was an alchemist and how he tried to find out how her hair grew back. He seemed interesting, maybe after your chores, you could get to know him.

You continued to listen in on the conversation. "Oh, hey Varian. First off, its Cass, not Cassie. Secondly, I'm slammed so-" "Oh yeah I hear you. Hey, did I tell you that my invention can create an entirely new element? I call it-" You tuned out the rest of the conversation.

A new element? That sounds awesome! You continued to clean the stages but at a faster pace. You wanted to know more about his invention. After you were finished, you were definitely going to talk to that boy named Varian.

Once you were done with the last stage. You looked over to see Varian re-tying the banner to the pole. But Cass was gone, maybe she went to do some other chores.

"Cassandra! Looking good! You should see some of the inventions on display, look at these crazy goggles!" You see Rapunzel run up to where Varian was, she had goggles on her head that looked like they could zoom in on any object.

"Oh! Hi Varian! I haven't seen you since we-" "Since your last invention almost killed us. So glad you're here with what looks like another invention." Eugene interrupted Rapunzel. Did that actually happen? You don't remember Rapunzel saying that.

"Please! I wouldn't miss a chance to promote the merits of alchemy. And wait until you see my invention, I think everyone at the expo will be impressed. Cassandra's gonna be here, right? Not that I'm, doing this for Cassandra! But she's going to be there, right?"

He seemed to act strange whenever he talked about Cass. You had no time to stay here and think, you had to continue working.

A few minutes later...

As you were cleaning the tables, you saw Cassandra walk up to you. "Need any help little sis?" She asked and you smiled. "Yes please, my arms are starting to get sore."

You grabbed an extra washcloth and handed it to Cassandra, she went over to a table and started cleaning it. Even if you hated cleaning, you enjoyed it when your sister helped out.

"There you are! Cass, not Cassie!" You heard a familiar voice call out to Cassandra, you looked up and saw Varian leaning against a table. "We uh, didn't finish our conversation from earlier."

"I did," Cassandra said and she went back to cleaning the table. Varian laughed and said, "Oh you! Ha! Seriously, I'm getting ready for the expo and I think you'll be pretty impressed with my invention. Yet the only thing is when I present it to Master Dr. St. Croix it's gonna take two people to operate it."

You tilted your head to the side. Was he trying to impress your sister? "Hey! Want to be the assistant for my demonstration?" "Assistant? What? No! Look-" Cassandra gasped, she had accidentally poured too much juice in a cup and it spilled onto the once clean table.

"No! I can't catch a break today!" She rushed off to get some more cleaning supplies. When she was gone you watched as Varian walked to the table. He took out a small salt shaker and sprinkled something onto the stain.

He then carefully took the flowers out of the vase and held them over the stain. A small drop of water hit the table and the stain was instantly gone. You stood there amazed at what he did.

Cassandra came back with a new rag and started scrubbing the area where the stain used to be. "Varian, thanks for stopping by but- wha- the stain, it's gone! But how?!" Cass was shocked that the stain had "magically" disappeared.

Varian smiled and confidently replied, "Oh simple. Grapes are acidic, by combining the alkalinity from the flowers barley grass with rock salt I was able to stop the stain from spreading. Alchemy!" He placed his hand dramatically on his chest, almost like he accomplished something. (I have no idea what he actually says before 'alchemy', it's like an entirely new word to me XD)

You rush over to Varian and Cassandra, eager to learn more. "That was so cool! Please show how you did it again!" Varian was surprised when you came over like that. "Um, who are you?" He asked and you looked at him, you blushed a little of embarrassment at your sudden excitement.

"Oh yeah, you two haven't met yet. Varian, this is my younger sister, (Y/N)." Cassandra introduced you and you waved a little at Varian. He waved back and smiled. "I see you have an interest in alchemy as I do."

"Its better than being a lady in waiting." You and Cassandra laugh a little. You could both agree that anything would be better than being a lady in waiting. "But the thing is, I barely have any knowledge of science, or alchemy to be exact."

"Maybe after the expo, I could teach you a thing or two about alchemy," Varian said with a smile. Your eyes lit up and you looked at Cassandra. "Is that ok Cass?" "Sure, I don't see why not." Your sister replied.

"So, you got a knack for this kind of thing? Any chance you'd want to-" "Help you?! Yes! I-I mean I'd love to." Cass was cut off by Varian's excitement. Good! More help with your chores. You thanked Cassandra for that in your head. "Hey, if I help you, you can help me and be my assistant. It will only take a minute."

Cassandra thought about it for like, a second until she said, "Um, deal." Varian's smile grew bigger. "Great! W-we could be 'co-ladies-in-waiting.' " He waved his hands slowly in front of him. You giggled when he said that and Varian couldn't help but blush a little.

Cassandra then threw a pile of clothes to Varian and he caught them with ease. "Let's not put a label on it." As Cass walked away, a piece of clothing fell from the pile. You picked it up and held out your arms. "Here, let me carry some of that for you." "No no, I got it! But thanks!" Varian said as he managed to grab the shirt that was in your hand.

You watched him walk away, almost bumping into a few people. You shook your head and followed close behind him and making sure he didn't bump into anything or anyone else.
