                         ~Bexley's POV~

"This is something you need to talk to your dad about," my mom tells me as I try talking to her about me leaving for college after graduation. "You know I want what's best for you, even if that's three hours away. Your father does to, but you know how protective he can be."
"Yeah, he can be if he actually pays attention to me. The only way I'll be able to get him to sit down and have that conversation with me is if you trap him for me," I tell her. She sighs, knowing it's true. She sets down the dress she was folding and gestures for me to follow her. "Where are we going?"
"To have the talk," she says flatly. I didn't expect her to do it that quickly. She's usually like me and puts these conversations off until the last minute. Following her out to the living room, I can't tell if she's in a bad mood or not. The way she's walking gives off the vide that she's pissed off but she isn't talking like she is.
"What's going on?" My dad asks from the couch. She looks over at me to talk. I shake my head a few times with warning in my eyes.
"She needs to talk to you about college," she says for me. He sighs, looking up at the ceiling. "Just listen to her."
"There's nothing to listen to. Unless she is close, she's not leaving," he says with a matter of fact tone.
"Dad, three hours isn't that far and it's a great school," I tell him. It's like talking to a brick wall. He's even looking straight past me on purpose. Looking back at my mom, she has her arms crossed over her chest with her brows raised at my dad. "This is a great opportunity. A full scholarship, dad; I worked so hard for this."
"You aren't going that far. The community college her is great," he says. I wonder what it would be like to have a conversation with him that isn't is arguing. "You need to stay close."
"Why? It's not like you'd even care if I was gone," I snap. His eyes snap over to mine, brows pulled tightly together. "You already act like I don't exist half the time, so this will be no different. Shouldn't you be happy?"
"I-Bexley, you're staying close and that's that whether you like it or not. You need to be protected-"
"Dad, in all my years of life, never have I had to be protected from the stuff you do. It's never affected me. So stop using that as a damn excuse," I say, my voice raising. "I'm going to that school whether I get your permission or not. This is great for me and I'd be a dumbass not to talk to opportunity. All I'm asking is for you to be happy for me for once."

                        ~Atticus's POV~

"Care to explain why she's back?" My sister, Marissa, asks me after I put Karla in my bed. Her and I had a very short friends with benefits relationship for a while before she got clingy. Now I avoid her, but every now and then we end up booking up.
My little sister definitely isn't a fan of my...friend. She's gone off on me time and time again when I bring Karla around. I stopped bringing Karla around with the main reason being my sisters hatred towards her.
"She was at the grocery store drunk off her ass and couldn't remember who drove her," I explain. I'm not happy about this either. "She'll be out in the morning; nothing is going on between her and I anymore."
She leans against my dresser with her arms crossed. "So are you gonna help me bring my stuff when I start school or do I have to ask dad?" She asks. She keeps bringing up her going to college a few weeks before school starts and nothing has ever gave me more anxiety.
Being her older brother I'm used to her always living with me and me knowing where she is so I can make sure she's okay. I know once she starts school I won't be in the loop at all. I may sound overprotective but I know how weird and horrible people can be.
"No, you shouldn't be talking to him," I tell her. "I can try and get the day off. If I can't we'll work something out," I tell her. She nods, straightening up. "I know this is what you've always wanted to do, but are you sure you want to move out?"
She gives me a small smile, knowing what I'm thinking. "You don't have to worry about me, I'm well behaved. Plus, it'll be easier for you to have girls around if you don't have your little sister in the way all the time."
She always finds a way to bring girls into the conversation. She loves to play Cupid for me since she says I have no romantic life. I will admit, I bury myself in work and don't give myself much free time, but I do try my best.
"I'm not interested in a relationship so don't go trying to play matchmaker," I tell her. "Now go to bed you still have school tomorrow."
   "Goodnight, asshole."
