For the next couple days, Tony was very caught up with the whole Thanos situation, as was everyone else. Whenever he went to the Avengers Facility, which was every day, I would tag along because I knew Peter would be there. More than half the time Peter and I would sneak away and sit by the ocean side. I think Tony knew, and I was glad he didn't come looking for us.

"I know when we're leaving." Peter said suddenly, staring out over the sea. I turned my head.

"To Titan?" He nodded

"To Titan?" He nodded. "When?" I turned my body to face him better.

"Wednesday."

"Two days? You're leaving in two days?" He nodded again. "When did you find out?"

"Couple days ago."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tony told me not to, he knew you were stressed about it, and on top of everything else that has happened, he didn't want you to worry."

"So, why tell me now?"

"Because you deserve to know. I'm not leaving without telling you. Just in case."

"In case?" I deepened my voice. "What do you mean 'in case'?" He didn't answer. "Peter," he looked at me. "You're coming back."

"What if I don't?"

"You will. You're all coming back. Tony promised."

"Tony promises a lot of things, Victoria. He loves you, and so do I. But this is the first mission we've had to face where we're not 100% sure we're going to win."

I swallowed and there was silence. "I want to come."

"What— no!" Peter exclaimed. "It's too dangerous."

"But—"

"Victoria, there's already a possibility I might lose you. I'm not increasing the chances."

"Okay."

Peter pulled me close to him and kissed my forehead.
...

That night, I was in my bedroom watching some YouTube videos of the Avengers from before Tony adopted me, or, re-adopted me? Their previous missions were intense; aliens, which I didn't even know existed, bad guys, explosions. The video I was currently watching was of them in New York again and they were fighting some scary alien people who had come to take over the world, though it looked more like they were destroying it. There was a moment where a grenade was thrown at Tony, in his suit, and it threw him back. Even though I knew he'd survived, obviously, it made me jump and tears filled my eyes. I peered at the inhaler on my nightstand that Bruce had gotten for me. My door opened and I quickly pressed paused and wiped my eyes.

"Whatcha doing?" Tony entered, looking to the television where it had paused on him laying on the ground. "What are you watching?"

"Just some videos of you guys on YouTube, from a couple years ago."

"You shouldn't watch those."

"Why?"

"Because, we get hurt. I don't want you to see that."

I smiled. "You're here, aren't you?"

Tony smiled sadly and sat on the edge of my bed next to me. I sat up straighter against the pillows. Before he could talk, I spoke up.

"Did you find all the stones?"

He seemed taken aback by my question. "Yes."

"Really? You did?" He didn't look at me. "Well that's a good thing, right? That means you'll be able to get ahold of all of them and not have to leave."

He smirked, staring down at the floor and playing with his hands in his lap. "No," he looked up. "I still have to go."

"But why? Can't you just find all the stones and destroy them so Thanos can't get them?"

"I wish it were that easy. I really do."

"Why isn't it?"

"Thanos is powerful, he's already done this to multiple other planets. We're not the first."

"Well they didn't have you guys... they didn't have the Avengers."

He laughed lightly again. "No, I guess not."

There were a couple seconds where neither of us spoke, but I knew both of us were thinking.

"I know when you're leaving." I said suddenly. He looked up with shock on his face.

"How?"

"Peter told me." He sighed and put his face in his hands. "It's okay, I'm glad I know. I would rather that than wake up one morning and everyone be gone."

"I just didn't want to put more stress on you, I know what you're going through. All too well."

"What triggered your anxiety?"

He seemed as though he didn't expect the question and readjusted himself on the bed. "Um, mostly my parents' death."

"Makes sense." I said. "I wish I could have met them."

"Maria would have loved you, you're just like her. Caring, funny, stubborn."

I laughed. "What about your dad, what was his name again?"

He swallowed painfully. "Howard. He probably would have liked to send you to boarding school, like he did with me. I wouldn't've let him though."

"Why was he so..."

"Stuck up?"

"Yeah."

"I've been asking myself that for years, haven't quite been able to come to a conclusion yet." He looked at me with a faint smile. "Maybe you can."

He left after that. I didn't understand what he meant, but after a bit of thinking, I decided to exit the YouTube videos and begin researching my grandfather; Howard Stark.

I started with the Stark Industries history. I'd already known that he was the founder of it, but came across a lot of information I didn't previously know and thought this must've been what Tony meant. Howard helped create weapons for World War II, and he was apart of the experiments that turned Steve into the hero he is today, a "Super Soldier" at the time.

I furrowed my eyebrows at an article about the "Tesseract", something that I'd never heard of before but looked too familiar to me. After reading some more, I discovered that the Tesseract is what Howard discovered, years ago, in the ocean and that it held the Space Stone. So, that's one of the stones Tony and everyone else were looking for, the Space Stone. I wondered where it was and was horrified to learn who'd gotten their hands on it; Loki. That was what was inside of his Sceptor, the one I'd destroyed.

I slammed the laptop shut and jumped out of bed, running out of my room and downstairs to Tony's workshop. He barely allowed anyone but himself in there, but the glass doors now had my handprint encrypted and I quickly scanned my hand, making the doors slide open. Tony looked up from his work with a worried expression.

"The Space Stone," I said out of breath. "Loki had it, then I destroyed it."

"We took the pieces back to the Avengers Facility after the fight with Loki in New York, Bruce is working on reassembling the stone. The fact that you got it from Loki already helped us more than you can imagine, the others were relatively easy to retrieve. I don't know what we would have done to get the Space Stone fro Loki. You know as well as I do how stubborn he is."

"So, I helped?"

"You helped a great deal." Tony grinned. "You're a hero, Victoria Stark."
