They say the  city shines with a pure light like no other. They say the streets are paved with gold that glowed as though it had just come from the roads of heaven. They say the  buildings shoot up in the air with an overpowering sense of regality, like soldiers standing at attention. They say people mostly keep to themselves moving through the streets, they say girls there are haughtily beautiful but viciously merciless.

That’s how people describe the beautiful Stonecrest Lake city. And no matter how free the city was, how charming the lake was, how delightful the museums were and how realistic the statues seemed, there was only one place that captured the visitors’ soul and caught their attention. It was The Lightening  Skies’ Black Sapphire. The few lucky people who got to be there still talk about the greatness of the hotel, “It’s a dark  pit inside, a sunshine of  joy outside. It captures the soul and takes the breath.  You may have secrets but they aren’t as dark as the ones you make there. The beauty of the Black Sapphire”

In five days, Shadehaven High school’s seniors will get the chance to witness the greatness of a city that stood tall for 250 years. Seeing the pressure and hard work that the students had shown all these months, the high school decided to give them a four days trip to StoneCrest lake city. After all, they earned it.

Sky sighed in frustration when she looked at her room. Normally it was clean and organized, but today, it was a complete mess. Her eyes darted to the mass of pillows thrown carelessly at the floor and she smiled remembering her pillow fight with Lydia and Heidi. They spent most of the night talking about how amazing the trip would be. They discussed the dresses, the heels, the plans they had. Everything.  They had missed Liraz but she was with Ace, so it’s okay. She ran her hand through her messy hair.

She winced at the thought of spending Christmas alone. Her mother had a business trip that she couldn’t miss, and Sky had told her it’s okay.

Opening her bedroom’s door,  she breathed the scent of fresh baked pancakes, she sighed, knowing that the house keeper wasn’t there, but she stopped on her tracks when the familiar tune of coutry music filled the kitshen down stairs and the melodious voice of Lucy Hale started singing  ‘ The snow's piled up outside the door, The weather man says it's best to stay inside tonight, The mercury's falling, the streets lights are shiver, You know to let you go wouldn't be right, It's the last week of December, so let's out this snow together…’ she frowned and went downstairs, following the sound of the music that lead straight to the kitchen, only then she heard the door close. There, she stood by the counter, looking at her hot chocolate and her caramel apple bread. She smiled when she saw a note on the counter ‘ You're the smile on my face, The sparkle in my eye, The tenderness inside my heart, The completeness in my life. Merry Christmas, hope you like your gift  -Ty’ . She shook her head smiling and reached the huge package on the floor revealing an enormous white teddy bear, she chuckled, reaching for two other well-wrapped presents. The first was a gorgeous metallic gown but she couldn’t help but jump from excitement when she unwrapped her last present: The first edition of her favorite author’s book Undressed: Baring it all by Annie Wilson. Bringing the book to her nose, she inhaled and held her breath. She loved the smell of books, but she loved this one more. It smelled like trouble. ‘ To Skylar  Emilie Blanchard, girls grow quicker than books, and secrets are darker than the depth of the soul, but – Just like you–  love is a battlefield, a hurricane, a war. So fight your way to the throne. - A.W’ . Hugging the book tight, Sky sat on the counter, enjoying her Christmas breakfast alone
