Nikki's POV
When we got there me and Neil bolted out of the car.
We didn't even wait for it to stop.
We both ran up to the counter as someone greeted us.
"Hello, what can I do for you?"
I was the first to speak.
"W-We're need to see max, he came in about an hour ago."
My voice was still shaky.
I watched as he typed in his computer.
"Oh... max? He's in room 509, take the elevator to the fifth floor and just head straight.
He said, pointing to the elevator to the left of us.
But as soon as we started running he began to speak once more.
"But wait!"
We turned around.
"He's not taking visitors at the moment."
What? But we needed to see him!
I just nodded and continued for the elevator.
I hit the fifth floor and we began to go up.
Can't this thing go any faster!?
We finally arrived on the fifth floor and once again, bolted out of the elevator.
We found room 509 and there were a couple of chairs outside of the room.
The blinds were also over the windows, preventing anyone from seeing inside.
But... sitting in two of those chairs were, Gwen and David?
David looked like he was balling his eyes out and Gwen was comforting him.
She was also silently crying beside him.
They didn't seem to notice us at first.
At first the first one of us to say anything was Neil.
"What the hell are you guys doing here!?"
They both turn up to face him.
In a shaky voice Gwen responds.
"W-were Max's foster parents..."
What?
I suddenly spoke.
"W-What? Your his forester parents?"
David was still sobbing like hell, but Gwen just gave us a quick nod.
"What did they tell you?"
Neil said.
Again, Gwen was the first to reply.
"He's alive,"
Oh thank god, sweet relieve washed over me.
"But, t-that's all we know. There still trying to get him stable. No one is allowed to see him yet.
I started to cry again.
D-does this mean that he's barely alive? Could he still die?
No, no he would never do that to us.
He would never.
He would never.
Me and Neil put down one of the chairs.
We waited, and waited.
None of us said anything, we just occasionally cried from time to time.
Neil's dad eventually left and told Neil to call him when we wanted him to pick him up, we stayed there all night.
And still, no one was aloud to see him, I still didn't understand why.
If I had stayed overnight here then my mom wouldn't care, so that was good.
No, nothing was good.
We had been here for about fourteen hours now.
None of us got up to eat, or drink anything.
Only occasionally getting up to use the bathroom.
That's when, someone came up to us.
A nurse.
She turned to face David and Gwen.
"We just wanted to tell you that we found this in his pocket."
She handed them some stapled paper.
Well she was here, I still had so many questions I needed to have answered.
But one way more then the others.
"I-is he okay now?"
She looked away,
"I-I'm sorry we didn't tell you sooner, but we got him stable and he is currently in a coma. He really shouldn't have survived that fall, but his legs caught him, but they are both broken now. We... we don't know when he'll wake up. It could be tomorrow, or it could be never. He got a horrible concussion. It's very hard to tell when he may wake up."
W-what?
I was happy to know that he was okay now but, in a coma?
I continued to analyze what she had said
H-he could never wake up?
My eyes felt watery again.
Max... please wake up.
