Nikki's POV
the thoughts kept racing though my head as I lay on my bed. Still staring at the ceiling and silently crying.
Why why why?
He seemed fine, I thought he was fine.
As I read his... note I also took a picture of it.
I grabbed my phone and went to the photos.
I clicked on the first, and most recent one.
I re-read it, I had a feeling I was going to re-read it a million times over.
I looked at the time.
5:26am.
I didn't wanna go to school, I didn't wanna do anything.
All I feel is grief.
I'm never going to feel the same way again.
More thoughts kept racing through my head once more.

What were those bandages on his arms?
I wanna go see him.
They said he may never wake up.

They said he may never wake up.

He may never wake up...

It was all my fault.
How did I not see the signs?
He looked fine, he acted fine.
My thoughts were interrupted by my alarm going off on my phone.
I forgot I even set it.
I haven't slept.
I swiped it and got up slowly.
It said 5:30.
I feel so... empty.
Why did I feel empty?
Like a part of me was missing.
Was this how max felt?
I hated it, every second.
I walked out of my room and went downstairs.
I didn't feel like eating.
I just sat there.
Waiting, for nothing.
My world had gone dark.
I just sat there.
...
I heard footsteps.
From upstairs.
It was probably 6:00.
My mom was up, if you could even call her that.
We barely ever talked.
Every time I tried to talk to her she would just say something like 'another time sweetie.' or 'can't right now.'
I heard her walk down the steps.
I didn't bother to turn my head to look at her.
Just kept staring, staring at nothing.
I wanted to see him.
That's when I turned my head.
"Can you drive me somewhere?"
"Not now sweetie."
She grumbled under her breath.
Typical.
I just sighed.
I pressed forward.
"But mom it's urgent!"
It really was.
"NOT RIGHT NOW SWEETIE."
I guess she woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
I couldn't take this shit right now.
Whatever it was, this was more urgent.
"NO."
She looked surprised.
"I NEED YOU TO DRIVE ME TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW."
She was speechless.
I never overreacted, or even acted seriously for that matter.
So this must have took her my surprise.
She just sighed and nodded her head.
"Let me get ready."
I also nodded.
Then waited.
