Chapter 22: Tokoyami and Koda

Heading down the hall towards the cafeteria, you let out a gasp as you notice a familiar large build, with silver hair and sharp dark eyes, walking down the hall. It brought a bright smile to your lips. "Shoji!" You chirp in delight skipping over to the silver-haired man with multiple arms who was just as happy, probably due to your aura, to see you.

"How're you today?" You asked stopping before him.

Shoji smiled with his 'hand' at your presence replied "I'm doing very well thank you. Just heading to the cafeteria with my classmates, Tokoyami and Koda."

You looked around him and noticed there were two other characters with him.

One was a male much shorter than his two companion and you, by a few inches, with a dark colored bird head with a yellow and bright red eyes, Tokoyami and the other was close to Shoji's height, but unlike him was gentle-looking male, Koda. Both really attracted your eye, despite one's towering heights you were not intimidated by either of them, especially Tokoyami who was resembled a bird. And you like birds.

"Hello!" You politely greeted your aura and smile just blasting on full throttle.

"Good Noon, " said the dark male whilst the larger shy boy gave a small wave. "It's nice to meet your acquaintance."

"Lovely to meet you both as well," you reply with a cute smile making Koda blush at the sight for he almost saw a cute creature in your place.

"Do you want to have lunch with us?" Shoji asked pointing to the way of the cafeteria that was just down the hall. Beaming at his invitation you thanked him but hearing his invitation made you recall someone else who has always asked you to join them for lunch.

'Oh right, Tomodaichi always attempted to ask me to join them for lunch...' You remembered 'But I keep turning her down for Shōtō...'

"I would love to but... I owe someone today, maybe next time?" You shyly asked trying not to look guilty for turning down the guy.

"You have your own freedom of choice, don't worry what your brother would think... This is what you want."  

You recalled what the blonde teacher told you.

Understanding what you meant Shoji ruffled your head. "Alright, but then now you owe me too. So don't forget." He says in a teasing manner making you huff. "How dare you...!" You cross your arms turning away from them sticking out your tongue. "I would never forget promises, you can count on that!" You say.

The male couldn't help but chuckle inwardly "I'll be counting on it."

"Then I should get going off, else I want to end up using my lunch period for all these talks I have been getting!" You giggled waving goodbye to them.

Shoji waving back to you with a fond look in his eyes that his classmate caught. "You seem rather attached, Shoji." Tokoyami pointed out making Shoji air a chuckle. "You will too." Replied the silver haired male who started to walk followed by Koda.

All Tokoyami could do is raise his brow in confusion as he followed after his classmate. "How so?" He asked

Looking back Shoji smirked knowingly "You will find out soon enough! Don't get too attached though..."

'I met her first.'

Opening the door, you were taken back the number of students in the room. "I never knew that there were so many people here..." You mutter to yourself in surprise.

'Probably because I never wander around enough to see other people...'

"Right, now... Where is--"

"Toto-chan!" Your lips break into a smile as you heard your classmates' voice, there in a group, sitting together with an empty spot between them, almost as if they were waiting for you.

"Are you gonna join us or what?" Tomodaichi grinned motioning you to come over. With a big grin, you waddled over to them making the group cheer happily taking you in with open arms. But watching you join your classmates were a pair of bi-colored eyes that held clouded emotions.

"(Y/N)..." You gulp an inaudible sound before gazing up to meet eyes with your twin brother. "Why're you here, why aren't you training?" He asked with an icy tone that sent shivers down your spine.

Even if the question was so simple and generic, it was so hard to bring yourself to answer. To your surprise though, Tomodaichi spoke up to him with no fear from his stoic and intimidating expression. "Why can't she eat with us? Are you just gonna let her starve?" Catching the attention of the Todoroki twins.

"I can tell she wanted to eat with us from the start but always turn us down. Now I can see why..." She mutters in a serious voice you have never heard her use before.

"Let your sister do what she wants. You don't rule over her." The girl says looping an arm around your shoulders bringing you close to her in a protective way making you blink in confusion, but it seems that your classmates agreed with her.

'I think you are letting the attack on UA get over your heads... This isn't even related to it...' Despite wanting to say you did felt touched that they were willing to defend you.

But Shōtō is still your brother, you don't want a fight to break out between them. "Guys, no need to cause a scene..." You yelp before turning to your brother.

"If you want to get something straight to your fucking brother, then say it to his face and fucking mean it."

"I wanna eat with classmates today, Shōtō. I will continue training later. Don't worry, I will put double the effort." You smiled at your brother who was frozen in shock at your words. He didn't know what came over him but all he could do was nod, speechless to your reply.

A foreign feeling bubbled in his stomach, he didn't know what it was but he did know it worsens when he saw you turn back to your classmates to chat and share their lunch with you as if he was never there in the first place.

'I forgot to buy (Y/N) lunch...' He suddenly thought as he walked off watching you bond with your peers at the corner of his eye.

"Toto-chan you gotta try this! Lunch Rush made it!" Tomodaichi chirped showing you a spoon full of her food. You eagerly opened your mouth allowing her to feed you and the moment your taste buds touch the food you gasp in amazement. "It's so good! What is it??" You ask like an excited child making your classmates laugh.

"It's pudding! You like it?"

"I never had one before! Another spoon please!"

"Of course!" Gritting his teeth Shōtō glared at the blonde who was spoon-feeding you. The sight of your smiling face feels distant to him as he walks away.

Once he exited the cafeteria, his shoulders slumped. Shōtō felt hefty in the heart than he had ever felt before. It was almost just moments ago that you were hugging his arm while smiling to him and for him alone.

And now...

'This will be worth it... (Y/N) can wait, the old man needs to know what he's getting...' Shōtō thought with a pained look in his eyes as he walks back to his classroom.

Green eyes watch him leave before looking back to the pink-haired student who was enjoying herself, as if for the first time. He had a concerned look on his face wondering if he had witnessed something painful to his classmate who had left the scene just moments ago.
