The Next Day, Chris headed up the stairs at Precious apartment building to pick her up for the gala.

He tugged onto the collar of his black dress shirt as sweat began to appear on his forehead. He wasn't sure why he was so anxious, he had been on plenty of dates before but there was just something about Precious that made him so nervous.

As he arrived at their door, he quickly straightened his suit blazer and slicked his hair back with his hand, before going to knock.

Moments later, the door was opened by Cecelia, who smiled at him, before opening the door wide for him to enter.

"My you look handsome" she uttered, going to straighten his collar for him.

"Thanks... Where's Precious?" He asked, glancing around the living room.

"She's still getting ready. I'll go check on her in a bit, she's been extremely nervous, please take care of my baby okay, she's never been to a fancy gala before, you know she's very shy" she smiled, placing her hand on his shoulder.

"I know, and don't worry, I promise to take care of her all night" he said, nodding his head at her. "Are... are you sure you don't wanna see him?" He asked as her face slowly dropped.

"Chris... I don't think it's a good idea if you're Father and I see each other again, someday you'll learn why... I'll go check on Precious" she sighed, before turning to walk away.

Chris slipped his hands in his pockets and sat down on his sofa before throwing his head back.

Several minutes later, he heard the sound of footsteps and murmurs coming down the small hallway and he slowly turned his head around to see Precious and Cecelia strolling into the living room.

Chris quickly stood up from the sofa as Precious glanced over at him. As she stood nervously awaiting his reaction, he couldn't help but gawk at her. She was dressed in a short velvet dress which reached slightly under her knee, she wore black flat shoes and her braids were draped loosely on her shoulders. How he ever made fun of her looks all these years was beyond him.

Cecelia looked at Chris then back at Precious. Their eyes were so fixated on each other, she didn't feel the need to intrude, so she slowly made her way to the kitchen to check on what she was cooking before either of them could notice.

"You look beautiful" he spoke, unable to take his eyes of her. It was as if he had been completely transcended.

"T-Thank you" she muttered quietly, placing her arms behind her back. "U-Uhm this dress isn't mine, it's my grandmas, she wore it when she was in HighSchool... I didn't really have anything fancy or-

"Its okay Precious, you look great" he said, causing a smile to slowly creep up on her face as she lowered her head slightly.

He took a step closer to her and slowly took both her hands, his  thumbs gently scraping across her palm.

"Thank you" he murmured quietly.

"For what?" Precious asked as she lifted her head up to gaze into his eyes.

Chris paused for a little while as he glanced down at their hands. "For giving me a second chance despite everything even though I don't deserve it".

Precious shot him a sincere look before looking down at her hands, feeling an overwhelming and burning feeling in her chest.

Seconds later, Cecelia strolled out the kitchen, causing Chris to quickly release his hand from Precious and take her step back and she couldn't help but smile. Seeing them like that brought back memories of her and Phillip that she buried deep inside all those years.
