Chapter Fifty Seven

The hall was crowded as many news stations had stationed their cameras and some were giving a live feed. Cowbellpedia was a huge deal to many people. Getting to the final stage was an achievement alone.

The MC started introducing the students as they climbed the podium and the moment he got to Semiloore's turn, his voice changed.

"Welcome Cowbellpedia two time champion, Ajayi Oluwasemiloore"

There was a standing ovation as she walked to her stand. The camera zoomed on her face and the students cheered as her face appeared on the big screen and on the large projector.

Semiloore was wearing a big smile as she got to her stand. One of the judges placed his mouth on his microphone.

"Hello Semiloore, its so nice to see you again"
"Its an honor Mr Peters"

"Confident?"

Semiloore laughed as she brushed her hand over the bracelet on her hand "Must I answer that?"

Another judge spoke up"You have changed a bit"

Semiloore laughed again "Well, you could say that. Change is something that happens to everyone right?"

"Yes"

"Do you think you can break your record Semiloore?"

Semiloore scoffed at the judge who had just spoken. Mrs Olofin never liked her. Always looked for opportunities to embarrass her.

"No"

The woman smiled "You don't think so?"

"Mrs Olofin,will you be patient? I'm not done with my answer. I don't plan to break it,am planning to set a score that even your children's generations can't break" Semiloore replied.

There was laughter in the hall as Kola shook his head and Imisi winked at her. Mrs Olofin turned a shade of white but didn't say anything.

And so the competition started. It was a tough war and by the third round,out of 18 schools,12 had dropped out leaving 6 schools and thanks to Dare, Hicol Lag fell within those six schools.

"Now we have come to the crucial part of the competition. The one that determines the winner of this year's Cwobellpedia Maths competition. The 60seconds score 100 section!"

The audience gave a loud wail as the MC paused.

"I wish you all best of luck"

And the section started. The first boy had 103,the second had 102, the third had 105, the fourth had 101, the fifth had 104. Even Hicol Lag had 102.

Semiloore was the one who handed this section so Dare knew nothing about it. They had even managed to get more than 100. With the close ranges of scores,everyone was anxious as it got to Kola's turn.

The handsome guy had a blank expression on the face as the hall went quiet. His fans gave a loud shout as the timer showed time up and his score was revealed.

That was totally too fast but still hadn't broken Semiloore's last year score.

The camera focused on Imisi immediately as the latter turned to Semiloore.

"Wish me luck"

Semiloore winked at the latter and everyone laughed as Imisi section started. By the time her section ended, both the audience and the live streamers went berserk went they saw the score board.

She had broken Semiloore's last years score of 234!

Imisi covered her mouth in surprise and more surprising she ran to hug Semiloore and the latter hugged her back.
