warnings: themes of death; very subtle, just some fluff, and this is a drabble
The autumn leaves snapped under Hoseok's feet, a tune passing his lips as he strolled along the grass to get to his destination. Once he did see where you were, he smiled widely. He had been waiting to see you for some time, something always coming up and shutting down his plans.
"Hello, my love," he greeted you and wasted no time in shimmying off his jacket. He placed his jacket down, sitting beside you. The wind whistled, a sharp breeze that caused Hoseok to shiver.
He huffed out a laugh. "I know it's cold but I'd rather that than sit in the dirt," he grumbled. He let his eyes dance over you, taking notice of the flowers you had that were drooped over.
His soft smile shifted into a grimace. "Ugh, they didn't even care to remove your flowers, huh?" Hoseok shook his head, internally scolding the ones responsible. "Lucky for you, I brought some more."
The area was quiet as Hoseok hummed his tune while replacing the dead flowers with bright, lively new ones. They were your favorite. Sunflowers. Hoseok smiled at the memory of when you explained why you favored them so much. He was involved in the explanation.
Something cheesy about how he reminded you so much of the plant and that whenever he was away you could remember how he brightens up every some he's in. A fond laugh left his lips that he just couldn't hold back.
"There, just as good as new," He proceeded to dust you off.
He let the serene engulf him. Taking a moment of silence to look back on all the moments you two have shared over the years, just like the sunflower story. The good and the bad. The short and the long. The ones he cherished and the ones he so wanted to forget. But even with those, Hoseok knew he would regret if he ever lost them.
Every memory that he could recall with you was special and one of a kind. Each of them meant something to him. The moments where you two smiled, laughed, cried, every single one.
He'd never forgive himself if he forgot them.
His eyes fluttered back open. Sadly nothing about the world in front of him had changed like he hoped, just like the countless other times he had come to visit. You still sat there, same as you were when he had initially closed his eyes.
There was never a time he wished things weren't different, but after all this time he had found a way to get used to your guys's chit chats.
Hoseok smiled down at your name being followed by his surname. His hand coming down to caress your smooth, granite plaque.
