The sound of rain was deafening. The pouring filled the low bustle of the bar, small chatter and the sound of amps being adjusted becoming a background sound. Despite it's decline in attendance over the years, you had always came to this bar. Falling in love when you stumbled in here for the first time around two years ago.
This place was your safe haven. And the lack of attendance, especially at night, kept it charming in a way. This bar was the place you always winded up at when you were upset, just needed a place to unwind and destress, or when you desired a quiet place to study. Tonight was a studying night.
But there was just one thing that you didn't enjoy about this place. It wasn't it's average menu, or cheap drinks, but the fact they let underground artist perform. They were never that good in your personal opinion. Maybe it was harsh but they're music just never mixed with your late nights.
You expected nothing different out of tonight. That is until a fine face strutted onto stage, you had never seen him before. He looked like he belonged up in the city, not in the rundown parts of your close to deserted town. He was the first artist to stand out to you, his eyes taking the cake for the most breathtaking feature you've ever seen on someone.
The way they sparkled under the lackluster lights that hung unevenly from the ceiling. You could only marvel for a couple moments before craning your head back down to your law textbook. His gaze was mesmerizing, like a trap.
Currently, you were the only one in the crowd, sitting at your signature table in the corner. From the look in his eyes he didn't even seem to mind. He still looked excited to see sitting on that cracked stage.
"Uh- hello," his soft voice echoed through the quaint bar. It made you smile down at your pages. His voice was as pretty as his eyes.
"My name's Jeongguk and tonight I'll be singing a song I wrote and produced myself, it's called still with you." He cleared his throat, earning a simple clap from one of the bartenders. You stifled a laugh, it was a habit of his. It was to ease the pressure off of the performers.
"I hope you all like it..." No song that has been played here has ever encouraged your attention to be averted. Maybe a glance out of second hand embarrassment, but never once did you look because the song they sang was genuinely good.
His voice was beautiful. Just as smooth as butter and it made you melt on the spot. Your worries about studying slowly but surely started to float away. The only thing on your mind being the lyrics he uttered and the way his fingers strummed on his guitar.
You were entranced for the first time. After years of keeping your nose in books and avoiding any chance of love in your life, you've been bewitched by a man who sings like an angel in a dingy bar. It wasn't ideal, but you were enjoying every single second of it.
It was like you were just floating in time. His song was over before you knew it. His last lyrics putting an end to his song gorgeously. It wasn't till his eyes glazed over the bar, eventually meeting yours, is when you realized what you were doing.
You shook your head, returning your gaze to your boring pages. A sweet giggle sounded in the mic and your heart fluttered. How have you become so lovesick for a person you've never even spoken to?
You sighed when Jeongguk said goodbye to the people who were listening, thanking you all for doing such. The lights dimmed once again and he was off stage. But it was only a matter of moments before a figure appeared on the opposite side of your table.
"Is this seat taken?" His intoxicating voice asked politely. You gulped, leaning up to meet his dark brown eyes.
You licked at your dry lips. "Uhm- no, you can sit,"
"Really?" He questioned as he scooted the chair back, plopping down and placing his guitar case on the ground. "Would've thought someone as pretty as you would have someone to join them..."
You smiled bashfully. Heat rushing to your cheeks almost instantly. "Well, thank you, but no one really ever comes here, or wants to come here anyway."
"I see that," he did a quick look over the empty bar.
"Your song was very beautiful by the way. I wish more people were hear to listen to it,"
Jeongguk smiled in return. "Same, but I'm glad you were at least in the crowd."
His flirting made you dizzy, it just seemed so effortless for him. And he didn't know when to stop.
"I hope you wouldn't mind if I asked to buy you a drink, would you?" He leaned in.
You shook your head immediately, garnering a laugh out of him. "I wouldn't mind, at all,"
"Then it's settled,"
With all the lovely memories you've had at this rickety, deserted bar, the one you had that night had to be your most memorable.
FIN.
