Jean's Point of View

I watched silently at other kids being held by their parents as I sat in a sandbox. The sand was inside my clothes making my legs itchy as the sun shined down on me almost mockingly. I couldn't help but feel weird, almost angry at the kids and their parents. They all smiled obliviously to the world around them.

"Hello." A voice called out. I blinked wiping at my dry eyes before turning my head to see a girl around my age. She had (H/C) hair in two pigtails and she wore a (F/C) shirt with a dark blue dress on top. She was holding a blue pale that held water. "Why are you by yourself?"

I looked down at my sand-covered lap. My beige shorts were hidden under the mess. "I-I just am," I replied simply.

"Can I join you?" She asked making me snap my attention back to her. Instead of waiting for a response, she sat next to me. She lifted up some sand dumping it into her blue pale.

I just silently watched her a bit confused on how to handle this situation. She didn't seem like a bad person, she just seemed lonely, like me. I brushed off my shorts before getting onto my knees. I picked up a handful of sand and dumped it into her pale. The sand made the water murky before turning back to normal.

That's what we did in silence, we took turns dumping sand into her pale of water.

"Jean Barrow," I said suddenly taking her a bit by surprise.

But she was quick yo recover with a smile on her face. "(F/N) (L/N)."

(F/N) (L/N). I repeated in my head.

"(F/N)!" A voice shouted as a woman who looked like the younger girl approached us. She kneeled down panting heavily. "Don't run away so suddenly like that."

(F/N) didn't seem fazed she only tilted her head. "He told me to run this way." She pulled out a beautiful white seashell. "And he gave me this!"

The woman only sighed using her hand to cover her face. When she uncovered her face, her (E/C) eyes seemed to notice me. "How did he give it to you?" She asked pointing at me.

(F/N) glanced at me before shaking her head negatively making her pigtails swish back and forth. "No! My best friend, the one that came with us from New York."

"(F/N), we've been over this he's imaginary." The woman said in a calming voice. "You need to make some real friends."

"He's my friend." (F/N) said pointing at me.

I stared at her my eyes widening at the declaration. "W-We're friends?" I asked a bit hesitantly.

"Of course! You helped fill my pale." She said holding up the blue pale full of water and sand. "And people only help their friends and family."

I could only stare in amazement. She wanted to be my friend. Well, I guess I was already her friend. I looked into her (E/C) eyes that were bright and full of joy. I couldn't help but feel suspicious. What if she leaves me too?

I smiled brighter at that wiping my tears. "To hell with Apollo!" I agreed. "I won't let any more Apollo kids feel abandoned by him."

(F/N) smiled pleased by my declaration as she hugged me. I hugged back digging my face into her shoulder. It felt like old times before we found out we were demigods, just us against the world. I guess we haven't changed much, the world just got a bit bigger.
