Chapter 27
I stared at my phone, refusing to believe what I just read from his text.
Kung kanina ay iyak lang ako nang iyak because of my failed recitation, now I couldn't even shed a tear. Umatras lahat ng luha ko.
I was shocked. I was too shocked to feel anything.
It was so out of the blue.
Hindi ako gumalaw and just waited for another text from him. Baka prank lang 'to. Baka mag-text siya ng It's a prank, Lei!
But nothing came.
And that's when my tears started to fall again.
I called his number but I couldn't reach him anymore. He turned it off.
Tulala ako habang iniisip kung bakit siya nakikipaghiwalay. Was I too much for him? Masyado ba akong makulit? Kaya ko namang mag-adjust para sa kanya!
He can't just break up with me na para bang ganoon lang kadali para sa kanya. We aren't playing. He should say it in my face.
Patuloy ako sa pag-iyak habang tinatadtad siya ng texts.
You're joking, right?
Mag-usap tayo, Andrei. 'Wag ganito.
Kung gusto mo makipaghiwalay, then at least face me.
Tell me why.
Tell me what I did wrong.
Why are you hurting me, Andrei?
I know he won't read my texts. But I still tried to reach him.
I called him on messenger but he wasn't online. Mukha na akong tangang umiiyak habang nakaupo na sa sahig, holding my phone. Hindi ko na alintana kung gaano na ako kagusgusin tingnan.
I should go see him. Hindi pwedeng ganito.
Agad akong tumayo mula sa pagkakaupo sa sahig and walked towards the door. But just when I opened the door, nauna itong bumukas and revealed Angel.
Angel looked at me with a shocked face. "Anong nangyari?"' She asked sabay lapit sa akin. She scanned my face, looking so worried. "Anong nangyari, Anne Lei?" Matigas na tanong niya ulit.
That question made me cry even more. I couldn't answer it. I refuse to accept that Andrei's breaking up with me.
Angel put her arms around me. "Ssshhh." Napayakap na rin ako sa kanya, still crying like a baby. I felt her caressing my back.
We stood there for a good minute and Angel led me to the sofa. Pinaupo niya ako doon while she went to the kitchen to get me a glass of water.
"Ano ba kasing nangyari?" She asked, handing me the glass. I slowly took it and drank some from it. Naupo na rin sa tabi ko si Angel at ramdam ko rin ang pag-aalala niya.
I bowed my head and played with my hands. "Andrei broke up with me."
"Ano?!" Halos mabingi ako sa lakas ng boses ni Angel. "Gago. Anong nangyari?"
I cried again. "Hindi ko alam, Gel."
"Eh gago pala siya. Ang lakas niyang pumunta dito para makipaghiwalay sa-"
"He didn't come here," I blurted out. "He just texted me."
"AY PUTA?"
I bit my lower lip, trying to prevent it from shaking.
"Tangina, sa text siya nakipaghiwalay? Gago siya, Lei!" Galit na sabi niya. "Anong sinabi mo? Bakit daw? Anong meron?"
"Wala siyang sinabi. He just said we should break up. Wala rin akong masabi. I tried calling him but I can't reach him," I stated. It was so hard saying those words.
