It was profanely dark around them though the moon squandered light throughout the woods; for the moon was happy to have grown full after a month. No, there weren't the thick-leaved trees in the Woods to prevent the moonlight and make it darker. Perchance, he who was standing opposite to her made it a much darker place.

Though the Woods was called the Screaming Woods, it limned silence that was extremely nightmarish and eerie. Reputed for being the most haunted forest in the country, the Woods had already terrified her to the hilt. To add up, he looked and talked like an actual devil-incarnate. It wasn't like him at all.

She looked at him in utter disbelief. This wasn't what she expected when she started towards the Woods. He was once the all charming hero of hers. But with her stupid insecurities, she kept him at bay. Now, when she tried to patch the situation up, it was near to impossible.

He stood like a lifeless statue, a good six feet away from her. "Well, a good precaution," she thought. This very thought brought a faint fake smile on her lips.

She put herself together with all the left out energy to claim her point once again. "Please," she blurted. "I can handle it. I can handle you, no matter how. Just trust me and get away from this... from here... with me," She hadn't yet seen or heard about his new lifestyle. But, it felt inappropriate and dangerous to her from every possible side.

He replied. Of course, he always did. But his reply was as cold as a glacier. He said abruptly, "You left me once. It's a good decision". There was rotten laughter and the next words came out in a swift. "Never regret it. Goodbye."

The very thought of getting home empty-handed and abandoned heart was enough to suffocate her. If she stumbled and fell there, she was afraid that she wouldn't get away from there, one piece. With her late meeting with an actual demon, she couldn't trust her life with anyone. Not even with him who saved her from the demon. Who knows, he might've saved her to kill her himself. Thinking of the possibility of being killed, she shuddered. He might've read her reaction.

He continued, "Leave before I give your soul a peaceful slumber". His tone was very plain. She could trace not the teeniest bit of concern in that threatening statement.

Did she even drive all those miles just to hear this from him? She cursed herself for her former action of leaving him. She would definitely regret it forever. But for now, she needed to do something. To save her and to save the only love of her life!
