Melissa's PoV:

Shit, shit, shit.

I had just overslept and I might be missing my first class. I never skip classes unless I particularly wish to. This day was an important day and I could not just be absent to school. I hurried pulling on my school uniform. Thank Goodness to uniforms! No time to choose something better every morning.

"Like you cared much for it," a voice at the back of my head reposted. I nodded disapprovingly at myself.

I rushed down to the dining room trying to fit my feet into the sneakers perfectly. I saw my breakfast had already been set there at the dinner table.

I smiled at it and felt how lucky I was to have a mum who would always read my mind and be ready to serve all that I wish for. Besides, there was my dad who could pose a healthy competitor to my mum. The only curse I had was my elder sister who was gratefully away, pursuing her BA Hons in London. Lately, we got to hear from her that she was out on a trip with her friends. I wished she would get lost there somewhere.

All of a sudden I missed her. I despised her for sure. Still, our hostility could never change the certitude that she was my sister after all.

Presuming that my mum and dad had already left for their works, I walked towards the table. I noticed a note fastened to the refrigerator. It read as follows:

"𝙷𝚎𝚢 𝙻𝚒𝚣, 𝚜𝚘𝚛𝚛𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙸 𝚐𝚘𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚕𝚢 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚠𝚘𝚛𝚔 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙸 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍𝚗'𝚝 𝚍𝚛𝚘𝚙 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚋𝚢. 𝙸 𝚐𝚘𝚝 𝚊𝚗 𝚒𝚖𝚙𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚊𝚗𝚝 𝚌𝚕𝚒𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚝𝚘 𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚌𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚘𝚏. 𝙳𝚊𝚍 𝚑𝚊𝚜 𝚝𝚘 𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚕𝚢 𝚝𝚘𝚘. 𝚃𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚍𝚊𝚍'𝚜 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚖𝚘𝚙𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚜𝚌𝚑𝚘𝚘𝚕. 𝙳𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚋𝚎 𝚕𝚊𝚝𝚎.

𝙷𝚘𝚙𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚎𝚗𝚓𝚘𝚢 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚋𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚔𝚏𝚊𝚜𝚝. 𝙷𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚊 𝚐𝚘𝚘𝚍 𝚍𝚊𝚢, 𝚑𝚘𝚗.

-𝚖𝚞𝚖"

Alright! My mum got some important work and she left early. I opened the plate that covered my breakfast to find my mum's best recipe- eggless waffles and seitan chicken.

Would someone cook rich for a breakfast that she had to set so early?

I sniffed once, grabbing my aids to perform the divine task of eating. I could see how early it was set. I dumped them into my mouth quickly. After I was over and done with the food, I dropped the dish into the sink and sprinted to the garage. I should learn to appreciate my mum's cooking flair one day.
