~Alexei~

"How long is he going to be asleep for?"

I ask Tristan while quietly closing the bedroom door behind us. Not like I had to be quiet considering Waylon was in such a deep state of slumber that he was snoring.

"Just a day, he should wake up tomorrow around this time. He'll be a little disoriented at first but he won't be sick," He explained as Cyprus walked out of his bedroom with little Lennie in his arms.

"Hello Mama, look. Alex got me a puppy for my birthday," Cy says proudly as he holds up the little chicken nugget who likes to nip toes for breakfast.

"Your birthday?" Tristan asks and Cyprus nods, cradling Lennie close to his chest.

"Yeah, you guys forgot but that's okay cause Wei and Alex remembered, and we even had a party," He explains but Tristan just looked so depressed and lost.

"Um, I'm sorry Cy. It completely slipped my mind," Tristan apologizes but Cyprus waves it off.

"It's okay Mama, I know I'm never that important anyway," Cy tries to make him feel better but I'm pretty sure it wasn't helping.

"Well thank you for coming over Tristan, I really appreciate you coming all this way to help Waylon," I thank my mother-in-law as we walk down the stairs towards the front door.

"Of course, I'll always come but I-" He turns to Cyrpus who was playing around with Lennie on the floor.

"He's doing fine. Feel free to check in on him any time," I offer and he nods, gently patting me on the back.

"Thank you so much Alexei, they're going to learn so much from you," He says as his parting words and I know he's not just talking about Cyprus anymore, but my boys too.

After saying goodbye I look up to Cyrus as he sits on the top step with a gloom shadowing over him that wasn't there when his mother was here. Probably because he was hiding it.

I walk up to the step beneath him, leaning on my knee as I ruffle his hair a bit.

"What's going on buddy?" I ask and he shrugs, petting Lennie as she lays on his lap and takes a nap.

"They forget my birthday every year. It's always missed by just a few days but it's never on the actual day, you know? I mean I guess it's pretty hard to remember May 30th is your son's birthday with the fate of the pack on your shoulders to remember the middle guy," Cy shrugs and I pet Lennie's soft little head.

"I've always been an only child so I never had the same problem and can't relate but I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm sure they never meant it in a mean way," I tell him and wonder just how you could forget your own kid's birthday. I guess it's hard with more than one but still. I wouldn't dare forget the day my sweet Waylon blesses me with my three beautiful boys.
