CHAPTER 9

-YANDISWA BESS

The ambulance arrives and they take Sino’s husband to the hospital. When we get there we wait in the waiting area. Derrick suggested that Sino be honest and not hide anything because should the guy press charges then it will complicate everything. Derrick brings us coffee and sits down beside Sino

“What happened?”

He asks, we still don’t know what the hell happened between them. She takes a long sip and swallows then lets out a sigh

“Sino I can't help you if I don’t know what's going on”

He says

“He came home with a lipstick smudge on his t-shirt smelling of another woman. We got into an argument over that and I ended up slapping him. He returned a slap that threw me on the floor and we just started fighting. He started strangling me so I grabbed something on the table and hit him with it”

She says and I let out a sad sigh. This I was not expecting, there's a sculpture I once made that Sino fell in love with and bought it. I can only imagine just how painful he hit him because the thing has corners and they are sharp.

“I just kept hitting and hitting until he stopped moving”

She says and I place a hand over my mouth unable to hide the shock

“that could be looked at as attempted murder”

Melo says and Sino looks up at him

“I can't go to prison Melo, what about my kids?”

She says with a shaky voice

“Kyle is the one that usually handles such cases so I will call him and talk to him…”

She shakes her head no

“I don’t want the kids finding out about this”

She says quickly pleading

“Sino Kyle is the best lawyer there is. I am a judge and I can't get involved”

He says

“Kyle knows what he’s doing and he will keep you out of prison”

He says and she just sobs, Melo gives me a look and I nod turning Sino to me while he walks away to call Kyle

“Melo is right. If he got involved any way then he would lose his licence and his job. Kyle is the best lawyer there is and he will do his best to make sure you don’t go to prison. I know my son and Melo trained him well and I promise you Sino you won't get a better lawyer than Kyle. Don’t you need to get checked out?”

I ask and she shakes her head no

“Sino please, we here so we might as well get you checked out too”

I insist and she sighs

“fine”

I get up and hold my hand out to her. We walk to the receptionist and ask for Sino to get checked out by a doctor
