Chapter forty five

Islam was on call with Selena when Islam said; "Lena I'm afraid. I'm mad at him. Have realised something, ever since I come to this country been always judging grumpy, it's affecting me and I'm just afraid." She complained.

"Then stop judging."

She was still mad at him though. She had never been mad at anyone the way she's mad at grumpy. She doesn't seem to know why she acts differently with him, always judging and hating him. To be sincere with herself, he doesn't deserve that. Especially not after taking his time to see her feel better the day before. He can be the worst person ever, but still how she acts towards him won't change anything.

As she reflected on her behavior, Islam realized that perhaps the problem lay within herself. She observed how Grumpy treated Husnah, his aunt, and his family with kindness, which made her question her own actions. Feeling a mix of emotions, Islam decided to make a change. She got ready for the day, putting on a simple light brown gown and a nude veil. Downstairs, she found Grumpy sitting on the living room sofa. Their eyes met, and Islam still felt a hint of anger. However, she was tired of judging him.

As she entered further in to the living, once again his eyes locked onto hers. The tension between them was thick.

"Islam, can we talk?" Juhaif asked, his voice low.

Islam shrugged, her arms crossed. "What's there to talk about?" With that she left him there and moved to the dining area to have breakfast. There she poured milk in a bowl along with rice Krispies. Minutes later she was still playing with the spoon, suddenly loosing her appetite. She carried an apple and pushed back the chair she was sitting on about to leave when she saw him trying to seat on the opposite chair from her. "I'm sorry." she heard him say. "I was wrong. My behavior was unacceptable."

What the ice cream!!! What the cup cake!!! Is grumpy really apologising?! Plus to none other than her? Suddenly she doesn't feel angry anymore. It won't hurt enjoying him begging a little bit more."Were you talking?" She feigned ignorant of his apologies.

"Never mind." he replied, to her surprise he pushed back the dining chair about to stood up and leave.

"Okay. I've heard you apologising, but really? Sorry? That's it?" Islam raised an eyebrow.

He took a deep breath. "I know I messed up. I want to make it right. I'll do anything."

Islam's anger simmered. "Anything?"

Grumpy nodded. "Name it."

"How about you borrow me your car for a day?" Islam said.

"What? Leave my car out of the equation, you know that's impossible."

"Where i come from, if the apology is sincere you will do anything." Islam said with a stern expression.

"Okay try something else that doesn't break." He simply said.

"You are repeating same mistake."

"But Islam you can't be breaking every single thing then gets angry if people try to protect their things."

Her expression softened. "It's not just about the apology. It's about changing how you treat me."

Juhaif's eyes locked onto hers. "I promise to do better. No more ignoring you."

Islam studied his face, searching for sincerity. She saw it. "Okay," she said finally. "I accept your apology...so what do you wanna eat?" She asked.

"Ohh! Have eaten, was just waiting for you to come down so I apologise. Like, the thing been dawning on me. Even in my dreams embarrassingly." he finished scratching his nape.

Islam was amazed and quite surprise at his new found attitude.

"Well, will advice not to repeat that. As you saw what happened after messing with a girl."

"That I don't agree. Just that this girl ain't ordinary." he chuckled.

"Yeah she's a monster!" She joked.

"Okay you need to say Astagfirullah. Don't joke around like that. Talks are prayers you know. What if angels answered you." He finished almost a bit angry. But what made him angry she wondered. Like it's a normal word Americans use. But now she has seen the truth behind his words though. As a Muslim you are supposed to weigh your words before uttering them.

"Astaghfirullah." she softly muttered.

She sat back on her chair and began; "You know why I was angry? Like I've wronged you many times and you might drew that conclusion. But I love babies that's why. I believe they are gifts to be cherished. I handle them with care. Sometimes I sneaked from home to babysit babies. And would lie to my dad about being at gym. But it's not like I was hundred percent lying, I would be at gym for 30 minutes and will babysit for an hour. But I really like babies and won't ever hurt them."

"It's in the past...gotta go." He said. But before leaving she heard him say "any favourite game?"

"Well polo?" It came out like a question.

"You ride horsie?" He asked amused.

"Yeah but on phone? The game's on phone."

He slightly glared at her and left, leaving her wondering what the watermelon was that!
