"Rise and shine!"
Naalimpungatan ako sa narinig. My eyes are still closed but my brows furrowed at the familiar high-pitched voice. It's obviously my Mom. I'm sure it's her. My forehead then knotted in confusion. Why is she here?
Dahan-dahan kong binuksan ang mata para sana kumpirmahin ang hinala pero agad lang akong napapikit. Nakakasilaw ang liwanag mula sa labas dahil ginilid ni Mommy ang mahahaba at makakapal na kurtina. Agad na tumama sa paningin ko ang mga sinag mula roon.
"Gising na, sweetie." she urged.
Ramdam ko rin ang paglundo ng kama dahil sa pagsampa niya. She even gently nudged me. Tinanggal niya na rin ang nakatakip na unan sa mukha ko.
"My gosh! You're glowing!" she cheerfully exclaimed with excitement.
Sa lumalakas na boses niya ay napadilat na nang tuluyan ang mga mata ko. The youthful and picturesque face of my Mother welcomed me. She's all glammed up. Her eyes were widely opened as she stared at me.
"You're looking more like me na!" halakhak niya.
I mentally shook my head at her ever energetic mood.
"Bakit ka nandito, 'Mmy?" paos na tanong ko.
She then smiled widely. Kinabahan ako. I know that smile. She's always like that whenever she's scheming or plotting something 'fun'. And her idea of fun is just way different from mine.
"We are going to..." she grinned. "La Union!"
Napanganga ako.
"What? Bakit?" kusang lumukot ang mukha ko.
She shrugged with the unremovable smile on her face. "Beach,"
Tuluyan nang nalaglag ang panga ko.
"Mommy," I groaned. "Ano na namang trip 'to? Bakit biglaan?"
She batted her eyelashes innocently. "Wala lang.. To unwind," palusot niya pa.
"Unwind?" my nose scrunched. "Stress ka ba, 'Mmy? Kaka-beach lang natin before mag-start ang school year," I factually stated.
"Ang tagal na nun. Months and weeks na rin ang lumipas." bumangon na siya at tumayo. "Anyway, bilisan mo na. Naghihintay na sila Tita Nadya mo sa labas,"
Why am I even not surprised with that anymore, though? Of course we'll go with them. We'll go all together. We always go in trips with both families anyway.
Hindi ko pa rin lubusang maiproseso ang lahat.
