CHAPTER 39:

Team Happy's Headquarters. Tang Rou groggily opened her puffy eyes. She yawned as she reached for her phone on the side table, lit it up, and checked for the time with knitted brows.

It was past one in the morning. She was so sleepy, but her throat was dry, and the need for water was stronger than her need for sleep.

Tang Rou slid her feet into her flip-flops and quietly walked downstairs as the motion sensor lights below the walls followed her every step.

Surprisingly, the light in the kitchen was on. However, as she looked inside, Tang Rou failed to spot any single soul. She knitted her brows and narrowed her eyes, she was confused and at the same time, her eyes had to adjust with the bright light.

"Did the housekeeper intentionally or unintentionally left the lights on?" she murmured to herself, lifting the pitcher jar of water placed on the bar counter and filling one of the glass with it.

Bang!

A loud clattering of what seemed like kitchenware startled Tang Rou. Her hand shook, consequently shoving the glass of water with the tip of the jar.

Bang!

The glass tilted and fell down on the floor, shattering into irregular sizes, and spilling the water into a pool of mess.

"Who?" a head popped out behind the bar counter, then greeted her, the second he recognized who she was, "Miss Tang."

"A'Qiu?" Tang Rou called back, leaning against the bar counter to observe the situation on the other side.

Ye Qiu had just finished a business transaction in B City, coupled with the fact that his problematic big brother made him clean up his mess, he didn't have enough time to eat, and was now rummaging the headquarters' kitchen to appease his furious stomach.

He wanted to find something palatable, but he didn't know how to cook, making him more frustrated. And when he finally found some leftovers in the fridge and planning to reheat it, those bullsh*t pans really had to fall! As if to make him more miserable ah!

Then there came another noise from the other side of the bar counter, followed by water leaking on the floor.

"Did I create an earthquake, so there's an aftershock and tsunami?" Ye Qiu whispered to himself.

"Ah, I must have been really hungry to think that my head is making these absurd ideas," he thought to himself.

Instead of aftershock, there must be a God-sent someone that woke up this late and would be willing to cook for him. Great! Just great! Finally, a good news!

"Who?" he asked, hidden in his formal tone was his excitement. Food! Food! Foo-, "Miss Tang."

It's her?! Oh...make that a little calm, it's her.
