Chapter 38

It was four in the morning when Adhyayan’s alarm beeped and he sprang from his bed groggily. He mentally cursed himself for planning an early morning trip. Being a morning person, practically Adhyayan never had issue with getting up early in the morning. Usually his day began at five but still, four o’clock in the morning was too early for him.

It was Saturday and he was going to visit Lansdowne, a destination close to his heart with someone whom he loved from the bottom of his heart, Anvesha. Taking a relaxing shower, Adhyayan stood in his balcony wearing a grey polo T-shirt and sweatpants as he sipped his special tea, his all-time favorite, the most energetic, masala chai. Excitedly he was looking forward for the trip.

A smile crept on his lips as he dialed Anvesha’s number asking her to be ready. While, on the other hand, Anvesha who was sleeping peacefully after partying till late on Friday night, was startled by the ringtone of her cellphone. Annoyingly, she opened her eyes, yawned and received the call sleepily.

“”Good morning, Precious. I am on my way, be ready”, Adhyayan said as he locked his penthouse and dragged his luggage towards the elevator.

Anvesha yawned and took a minute to realize about the trip. Mumbling a ‘good morning’, she got up from her bed and headed towards the washroom for her morning chores but not before disconnecting the call.

Adhyayan smiled as he loaded his luggage in the trunk of his car and drove towards Anvesha’s place.

Luckily, Anvesha’s apartment was not in the opposite direction from the Meerut highway. Adhyayan was aware about the morning traffic of Delhi, so he wanted to cover the maximum distance in the morning. Moreover, it was an eight hour journey from Delhi to Lansdowne, and he wanted to reach before afternoon.

Adhyayan was greeted by empty roads before dawn in the busy city of Delhi as he drove in the wee hours which was truly an admirable sight.

Anvesha, on the other hand, took the shower and grabbed her mauve colored parallel trousers and a striped pink and white shirt to get ready.

Yawning every now and then, she got ready for the trip. She was excited to hear Adhyayan’s side of story.

Mountains and hill stations had never interested the pretty girl from Darjeeling!

Adhyayan called her reaching her apartment and Anvesha came with her luggage without any delay.

Loading the luggage, they were off to the journey. While driving, Adhyayan continued to steal glances every now and then while Anvesha rolled down the window and felt the soothing breeze of the dawn on the empty roads of Delhi. The silence between them after the morning greetings was truly amazing. Despite no words were spoken, yet both of them had thoughts of each other in their minds.

As the sun began to rise high in the sky, traffic started increasing on the highway. Anvesha sighed as she rolled up the windows and turned towards the driver seat only to see Adhyayan watching her keenly.

Scrunching her forehead, she said, “Mr. Boyfriend, the road is in front of you”, as she pointed towards the highway.

“Ms. Girlfriend, you are looking gorgeous and I can’t take my eyes off from you”, Adhyayan said in a husky voice and Anvesha turned scarlet red.

Smiling coyly at him, she fixed her icy blue eyes towards the window while Adhyayan chuckled admiring her antics. Their little romantic moment was broken by the honking of a truck who wanted the passage to overtake them.

Around nine in the morning, Adhyayan was dead tired after driving for five continuous hours. His stomach growled and he realized it was time for the breakfast. He sighed looking at Anvesha who was relishing her early morning sleep. He headed towards a cozy restaurant on the highway and stopped his car.

“Anvesha”, he called out but the beautiful girl sleeping on the passenger seat did not budge at all. Admiring her cute facial features, he removed her curly tresses from her face and nudged her only to get no response in return. He groaned realizing she was a heavy sleeper.

Gently kissing on her forehead, Adhyayan smiled as Anvesha stirred in her sleep.

“Sorry, I will have to wake you up”, Adhyayan mumbled half-heartedly not wanting to disturb her early morning nap but for now, breakfast was more important.

Gently patting on her soft cheeks which turned pink with his touch, Adhyayan let out an exasperated sigh as he said loudly in her ears, “Anvesha, we have reached”.

Anvesha’s eyes opened immediately at the sudden howling she had heard. She dilated her pupils and was taken aback to find Adhyayan leaning dangerously close to her. Her icy blue eyes fixed at his bow-shaped, moist, pink lips as her thoughts wandered at the first kiss they had. Keeping aside her carnal desires, she asked, “What?” groggily.

“We have reached to a restaurant and I am damn hungry. Come on, let’s have the breakfast.” Adhyayan said smiling at the cute Anvesha who was looking like a bewildered kid after getting up.

Relishing upon the sandwiches and coffee, both Adhyayan and Anvesha chit-chatted over their breakfast in the small yet, cozy restaurant. The ambience of the eatery was definitely appealing with a colorful walls and rustic furniture. The owner of the restaurant happily accommodated the couple as he was delighted to see a renowned chef stopping by his humble place. After a short photo session, the couple retreated towards their car to proceed for the journey when Anvesha smiled as she said to Adhyayan, “You must be tired, right”.

Adhyayan smiled as he said, “Not much. It is just the matter of four hours.”

“May I drive, please?” Anvesha said pouting at him as she emphasized over the word ‘please’. She was expecting Adhyayan to turn down her offer but was elated when Adhyayan threw the keys towards her and said, “Sure, my lady”.

Anvesha chuckled as she sat on the driver’s seat while Adhyayan took the passenger’s seat and said, “Now, it’s my turn to sleep”, sticking his tongue out at her.

“No, Mr. Boyfriend. You will be my Google Map and guide me all the way.” Anvesha said winking at him as she ignited the engine and began to drive.

The latter part of the journey was indeed, entertaining due to continuous blabbering of both Adhyayan and Anvesha who were behaving like kindergarten kids but surely they enjoyed each other’s company to the core.

Reaching Kotdwar, Anvesha was captivated by the serene beauty of the hilly roads with sharp twists and turns along with mountains on one side and Kho River flowing on the other. The cool breeze blowing in the atmosphere was truly an icing on the cake.

“It feels as if I am back home”, Anvesha mumbled getting mesmerized by the enthralling beauty of the place.

Adhyayan chuckled as he said, “I love this place”, as he inhaled the soothing fragrance of the cool air rolling down the windows.

It was one in the afternoon, when they reached their destination, Green Pine Resort in Lansdowne and headed towards their rooms to take rest after a scrumptious Indian platter in the lunch. Both of them were indeed, dead tired. Reaching their respective rooms, they slumped on their bed and slept!
