Desire

What does your heart desire?

People all have one, deep inside their soul, growing and sprouting over time, begging to take control of our whole being.

Some wish for fame, some for fortune and wealth, others simply to have company and to be loved.

Yet sometimes, your heart can deceive you, dragging you down the path you don't wish to embark on.

For Sophie, she only had one goal.

She wanted to be normal to someone, treated like any other girl her age, seen as nothing but average, just another girl in this world.

Was it that hard to ask?

Instead, apparently her mind worked on a whole different plan and timeline, letting her be part of a crazy adventure, which also involved sparkly flying alicorns.

Risking her life dozens of times, defeating an evil rebel group, juggling with five different abilities, and being a weekly patient to the Healing Centre wasn't exactly what anyone would consider "normal".

Sophie hated it, for sure.

For once, she just needed to be her.

She laid down on her bed, keeping her all thoughts into a mental box she labeled "to solve later".

Although she was pretty sure that "later" would never actually happen.

"What's with all the Foster Anxiety?" A voice came from outside after a knock she barely noticed.

Keefe strode in, his usual smirk plastered as he sat down next to Sophie on her bed.

"Nothing- oh wait is that grass in your hair?" Sophie felt a smile creep to her face as she sat up, pointing at the bits of purple and dirt in his hair he spent so much time styling.

He ruffled it off as he pouted, making Sophie's traitorous lips giggle.

"Okay, no more distractions. So what's wrong?" his eyes seemed to soften as he looked at her, making her heart flutter for that one second.

"Really, it's nothing. Besides, what are you here for?" She asked, desperate for a topic change.

Keefe glared at her for a quick moment, as if he was still wanting to squeeze the truth out of her, but as far as she was concerned, this was one of the only things she was going to keep from him.

Especially her feelings.

Still, he sighed as he gave Iggy a belly rub. "Nothing actually. Just thought of checking in since I missed lunch today," he smirked.

"What did you get into trouble for this time, anyways?" Sophie laughed, wanting to know why Fitz was laughing so hard as Keefe announced he had to leave for detention earlier.

"Wouldn't you like to know? I get to keep some mystery too you know," his smirk widened, and Sophie had no patience anymore.

"Come on, just tell me!" she laughed, kicking his feet.

Keefe laughed as he attempted to kick her back, but she quickly scooted away.

"Fine. So my empathy mentor told me to solve the problem on the board," he started, looking at Sophie as he dragged on.

He seemed to have a lot of fun watching her all anticipated.

"And I erased it," he finished, a satisfied smile on his face as Sophie started to laugh.

"Seriously?" she asked in between laughs.

Keefe nodded rather proudly, and Sophie calmed down to soft chuckles.
