"Hey it's Ruel, sorry I didn't answer, make sure to leave a message." the voicemail says when Ruel doesn't answer the phone.

Jenny frowns. "He didn't answer?"

"Nope, but I get it. We ended things. We don't talk anymore so why would he answer my call." I sigh.

"He probably saw it but wasn't ready to talk to you. I mean Kate did say he still thinks about you." Amy adds, sitting down on the couch next to me.

"Do you think I should call again?" I ask.

Jenny shrugs and Amy nods. No offense to Jenny, but she's kinda old, so I'm gonna listen to Amy on this one.

I redial Ruel's number, and once again it leads me to voicemail. Even though he didn't answer I leave a message. "Uh hey it's Mads-Madeline. If you happen to be hearing this I just wanna talk...I uh understand if you don't so like just uhm you know don't call me back if you don't want too I guess."

Amy looks at me in embarrassment.

"So yeah, I just wanna talk Ruel. Please." I hang up the call.

I don't know what I was thinking but that was the worst thing I could have done. I literally told Ruel that he didn't have to call me back. What the fuck was I thinking.

I spend the rest of the night embarrassed at my voicemail that I sent Ruel but some part of me also me kind of comforted. If Ruel wants to call me back, he will. I know that by me accepting the fact that it was both our faults we stopped talking and not just blaming the whole thing on Ruel, I'm moving on...and you know what that means. Moving on means starting fresh! Starting new! This is exactly the extra push that I needed to get over Ruel. Maybe talking to Kate wasn't a bad thing after all.
