The second Ruel steps on stage, I feel my heart fill. Just to be here in this moment, knowing that everything is just the way it's supposed to be reminds me of the feeling I've been searching for my whole entire life. I once saw this quote and it said "You are the best thing I never planned". From the day Ruel walked into my dressing room at the Australian Music Festival to tell me that I did a good job, my heart was his. Even the month where I felt like I needed to end things with him, my heart was always his. He took me by surprise and I fell for him. Even through all the darkness, it was always him.

The last song to Ruel's set is Painkiller. As one of his best and most popular songs, a lot of people in the audience are excited to here him sing it. From where I'm standing, I'm in between the stage and the barricade that's keeping back the people in the pit. When I look over my shoulder, hundreds of people are smiling, cheering and some, even crying. It melts my heart that so many people have come together to support the one artist they love the most. It's so cute.

"You guys probably know this already, but this is my last song of this tour. As sad as it is, I've made so many great memories these past couple of months that I wouldn't trade for the world. I've met so many amazing people along the way, and it's all because of you guys." Ruel says into the microphone.

"Although, there is this one person in particular that is more amazing than most. This person has lifted me out of the black hole I was in and helped me become a better person. This last song is about someone you can't live without, someone you need in your life. Someone that makes life worth living. She's here tonight- the person I'm talking about."

Ruel walks over to the corner of the stage and sits down on the edge. I'm right in front of him, trying not to break eye contact. We're face to face and I just feel everyone's eyes on us. I'm Ruel's painkiller. Me, I'm his painkiller.

Ruel puts the microphone back up to his mouth and starts singing.

"You're my painkiller
When my brain gets bitter
You keep me close
You keep me close"

His show ends and I'm waiting for him backstage. He runs off stage and I immediately run into his arms. I kiss him and congratulate him on ending his tour with a bang.

Ruel takes my hands into his and inhales a deep breath. "I love you Mads. So much. And listen, I know we're not officially dating and hell, we were just broken up sorta, but I love you and I need you in my life. I'm all for you, so please Mads, be my girlfriend?"

My eyes fill with tears and a smile forms on my face. "I love you Ruel. And yes, I would love to be your girlfriend!"

And that's it. That's how the first chapter of our story ends. Beautiful, yet complicated, I've learned that sometimes the two people who are truly the best for each other will have to face great obstacles in order to be with each other. That's what we did, Ruel and I. Something tells me that I'm going to love this boy for a very long time.
