The sound of the crowd talking and the glass clinking was echoed throughout the golden ballroom. Crystal chandeliers that illuminated the golden walls and polished floor, spiraled down from the arching golden ceiling. There had been two golden staircases that lead up to the ballroom.
Every person had a masquerade mask to hide their identity. Every woman either had a white, golden, or colorful ball grown that matched their masks. Men also wore the same colors. No one wore black.
A spoon tapping on the glass was heard which brought everyone's attention to the stage that faced towards the staircase. A young man with tan skin, blue eyes, and black hair was on stage. He had been the only one wearing a back suit with a matching black mask.
"First of all, I hope everyone is having a wonderful night. I'm Derek Hilton and I'm the host for this masquerade ball." The crowd clapped as he smiled and waited for them to calm down.
While he was starting to deliver his speech, a h/c haired girl who had been wearing a long black off the shoulder and slit dress entered the room. She had also worn black satin gloves with a sparkly black clutch. She silently studied the crowd and the man behind her black and silver mask from her view at the top of the left staircase.

"It's an honor for me to hold my father's yearly masquerade ball here in London/New York and to celebrate its 20th anniversary." He looked up and their eyes met. She had been slowly walking downstairs without taking her eyes off him as if he was her prey.
His mouth was agape as soon as he saw her. She looked mysterious with her beautiful black dress and mask. He quickly cleared his throat before he started talking again.
"Uh, just like my father said, forget all of your life problems and focus on the person behind the mask. Thank you!" He said before going down the stage and pushing his way through the crowd to make his way towards the girl. The crowd looked confused but still clapped at his small speech.
"Derek!" Some ladies were calling him but he ignored them. He wanted to find that mysterious girl that caught his attention.
In a matter of seconds, he had finally spotted her. She was taking a sip of a champagne glass. When her eyes met his, she smirked. She knew she had gotten his attention.

(A few hours before)
I sighed in exhaustion once I arrived at the Hilton Hotel. I threw my backpack on the carpeted floor and jumped on the white queen-sized bed. It definitely was a bad idea for me to stay awake while I was on the plane. I turned around to look at the clock and saw it was barely 8 am. I had twelve hours to get ready and arrive at the stupid masquerade ball. Although it was out of my character, I decided to rest up for this long upcoming night.

Sally fluttered her eyes open. She was about to get up and go to Y/N's room until realization hit her. Y/N was gone and wasn't going to come back until five days. Tears started to form in her eyes as she held onto her bedsheet. Without thinking, she sprinted outside of her room to Y/N's room and slammed her fists onto the door.
