So what the hell are we supposed to do? Does anyone even prepare you for this? If they did... I definitely fell asleep.

Abandon ship- or classroom I guess. As we shoved at each other trying to get into the classroom next door. My English teacher grabbed my shoulder throwing me back getting in the room before me as I hit the ground outside the door. I tilted my head back to see the man walking inside the room, and he held the gun pointing it at me. My brain thought that was the end but luckily my body doesn't take orders from my brain and rolled out of the way of the shot stumbling to stand up as bullets just barely missed me and I hopped out of the second story window hitting the courtyard garden below me.

"Ow," I groaned.

I slowly stood up looking back at the window as I saw the man raise his gun to the pile of kids in the classroom. My first thought? A rock. I grabbed one of the painted ones from the art class and threw it as hard I could but missed it. Should've given me a lacrosse stick.

The man still took notice and went after me as the bullet sliced the cement while I ran for a covered area. I complained about how it felt like being in a prison with the amount of cement surrounding the school but right now I grinned behind a concrete post.

I thought about every dangerous situation I'd be sat in the last few months. My mom's Fashion show, saving Kogin, the Lacrosse game. Nothing compared to being trapped in a small school behind a cement wall and a man with a semi-automatic rifle and who knows how many shells.

I pulled my phone out that miraculously was still in my pocket, "Come on pick up. Please."

No one answered. Damn it.

I tried the last number I knew, "9-1-1 what's your emergency?"

"Can't you hear it?" I said sarcastically.

"Is that gunshots?"

"Uh-huh, at the high school."

"Alright, I'm just gonna need you to calm-"

"Hold on I don't need the whole stay calm speech right now. I need to get in touch with King county Sherrif's Tactical team 30 specifically Reeves Charleston."

The gunfire stopped but I didn't dare look around the pole. She must've thought it was a ransom call cause when they picked up, "Go for Reeves."

"I know this ain't him, I know his voice-"

"Jesus christ Kova is that you?" I heard his voice cut me off.

"Yeah, listen I need you to tell me who's in charge of the school shooting happening right now?"

"Tac 30- Kid are you safe? Are you okay?"

"Besides being shot at right now. Yeah, I'm okay."

I heard a voice on the other line, "Who is this kid?"

"My niece. Kova, Did you say you were being shot at?"

"Yeah the guy walked into my classroom and I jumped out of the window and he then started shooting at me and-"

"Kovy, Calm down... I'm going to facetime you and you're going to show me exactly where you are."

I nodded ending the call as another one came up, "Reeves, I-I'm in the courtyard... but I don't know where the shooter went,"

"Don't move, okay, I'm coming to get you-"

My phone flew out of my hand and hit the ground as I stared confused but then saw the perfectly sized bullet hole through it. My body went to look to see where the shot had come from but my brain tightened every muscle in order to not look. If the shooter was just staged there in the window waiting to take a shot at me looking was a horrible Idea- ASHER!
