The following morning I woke up sore in bed, as if my whole body was on fire. Groaning in pain, I belled Martha to come in.

"Get me some pain killers and make sure my phone is charged the next time!", I shot daggers at her with my eyes as she nodded and scampered away to get me my meds.

Deciding to bunk school, I threw on Xavier's white tee and walked down for breakfast, where my pain killers and a glass of water was waiting in the spot, I usually sat down in.

"Now. Tell me what happened in full detail", Dad questioned me before I even got to sit down.

He saw the state I came home in last night and was about to murder Xavier before I gave him a mini rundown of what happened and crashed on my bed, exhausted beyond words.

"It's like I said dad, 11 men in ski masks tried to kidnap me. There's nothing more I can say about it.", I groaned as downed the painkillers with water

"So you're telling me...that this boy, Savier or whatever, fought 11 grown men all by himself?", dad's eyes widened while mine rolled.

"Uh- hello? What about me? I fought too! Think I even stabbed one of them with a heel.", I narrowed my eyes at my dad.

"Yeah yeah, sure you did. I must say...I'm impressed with this boy", Dad had an approving look in his eyes.

"Whatever", I rolled my eyes at him again, but I could feel a small smile tugging at my lips.

After a moment of silence, I could sense the atmosphere shift, so I couldn't help but ask,
"Dad..."

"Hm?", he looked up from his papers

"What are we going to do about him?", I knew dad knew who I'm talking about seeing his self stiffen

"Don't worry Princess. I'll do everything in my power to keep you safe"

"It's not me wanting to be safe dad, its about me not wanting to hide and run away all the time!", I could feel myself get frustrated as I looked down at my hands to calm myself.

Dad was so silent that the next words I spoke, cut through like a chainsaw being rammed into a tree.

"It's about wanting justice for her, fo-for Emma", I spoke in a low whisper that even I didn't almost catch what I said but in this tense silence, it echoed.

This was the first time in three years her name came up in the household. Everyone knew it was a trigger word for me and thus was banned from speaking it. Thinking back, how cruel was I to ban my own sister's name from the house she once breathed in.

Dad gripped the paper he was holding so hard that it tore in the center.
"I haven't forgotten. I will make sure she gets her justice Natalie"

"How! When? You've been saying that for THREE fucking years dad!" I shot up from my seat, letting the chair topple over.

Dad shot up too, an anger I've never seen before gracing his face.
"Don't you take that tone with me!"

"What tone!? You expect me to sit here all pretty while you ramble on with the same bullshit you've been spewing for the last three damn years!?"

Dad got up in my face, his ears red with anger.
"You think Hawthorn went to jail all by his self for the past year and a half!?"

"FOR MONEY LAUNDERING NOT FUCKING MURDER!",My anger seethed high but the world suddenly halted abruptly. My dad slapped me.

For the first time in my life, he slapped me. My anger sizzled but a hurt took it's place. Dad's eyes widened with realisation as he saw my watering eyes.
