Fred Weasley Pov:
The day of the first Triwizard task had finally arrived, creating a sense of anticipation in the castle. When lunchtime rolled around, everyone in the Great hall was talking amongst themselves eager for the event. Around me, everyone had wide grins on their faces, except for Harry who was glumly looking down at his plate.
"How are you feeling Harry?" George piped up from beside me, obviously noticing Harry's dull mood as well. The messy hair boy let out a grunt in reply and continued to pick at his food, pushing it around on his plate.
"Don't worry mate you'll be fine, whats the worst that could happen?" I say cheerfully.
"That's what I'm trying not to think about." Harry explains. George gives me a nervous look as McGonagall approaches, standing next to Harry.
"Mr.Potter it is time to prepare for the first task." She announces, looking somewhat anxious. Harry pushes his plate away from him and stands up with a stoic expression. The entire Gryffindor table watched as the boy walked away, nervous for his performance.
"I feel awful for him." Angelina solemnly states.
"Hey if anyone can do this, it's Harry. I mean he survived the killing curse for fucks sake." I say in a positive manner. Everyone around me quietly nods in agreement, still feeling scared for the black haired boy.
A few minutes later McGonagall appeared again to usher everyone out of the Great hall for the first task. The students were bubbling with excitement, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of adrenaline course through me. We walked down the grounds, making our way right towards the edge of the forbidden forest.
"Bloody Hell." Ron muttered as the Dragon's enclosure came into view.
"They have to fight Dragons!" Angelina gasped from beside me.
"This is wicked." George and I say at the same time, wide grins on our faces. Continuing to walk into the enclosure, McGonnagal leads us to a group of seats with an amazing view. The arena was large with jagged rocks and patches of green covering the ground. In the middle sat a group of what appeared to be dragon's eggs. A singular one was gold, probably being of some importance in the task.
"I really wished that aging potion had worked." I groan. George laughs next to me and continues to look out at the enclosure. We watched in pure awe as the dragons emerged, and one by one each of the champions against them. The fights involved a series of flames and spells as the champions attempted to retrieve the golden egg.
"And now, last but certainly not least, our youngest champion ever...Harry Potter!"
The entire crowd erupted in cheers, except for the Slytherins who looked disdainfully at the arena. My twin and I were practically leaping out of our seats in excitement as Harry emerged from the entry way and the duel commence. Immediately, Harry waved his wand shouting out an inaudible spell. Nothing happened and the fans shared confused looks while Harry stood, waiting.
"Was that supposed to happen?" I whisper to Lee who shrugs his shoulders. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Harry's fire bolt zoomed in and landed in his clutches. Swinging his legs over the broom and soaring upwards, the crowd cheered.
The Horntail attempted to follow the boys movements and released a jet of fire from it's mouth. Luckily, Harry avoided the flames and flew in wide circles trying to confuse the beast. The rest of the fight continued on like this, Harry flying around and trying to make the dragon disoriented.
Finally, he was able to swoop down and capture the egg, zooming underneath the dragons tail. A roar of applause went up among the stadium at Harry's victory. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and Lee winced from beside me.
"GO HARRY I KNEW YOU COULD BLOODY DO IT." I scream and George smiles next to me. The sound of cheering increases even more as it is announced that Harry is tied for first.
Once the excitement died down, everyone was escorted from the arena and back towards the castle. Hurriedly, all the Gryffindor students, including myself, ran up to the common room. We all piled in the portrait and waited eagerly for Harry to return. Impatiently tapping my foot on the floor, I sprang out of my seat when Harry finally entered.
"YES HARRY!" I yelled and the entire common room broke out in cheer. George and I quickly went over and hoisted the boy up on our shoulders. Harry was actually smiling as he held the golden egg in the air for all to see.
"WE KNEW YOU WOULDN'T DIE HARRY!" George chorused next to me.
"LOSE A LEG!" I added.
"OR AN ARM!" George finished . We continued to spin him around while everyone clapped. Hoots and hollers filled the common room as we continued to bask in Gryffindor glory.
"Go on Harry! Open it!" Seamus urged from the front of the crowd.
"Who wants me to open it?" Harry questioned with a grin on his face.
"Yeah!" I yelled along with my housemates.
"You want me to open it?" Harry questioned louder this time, grin widening.
"YEAH!" The entire common room yelled louder. Harry finally lowered the egg and began to unscrew the top. Carefully opening the lid and undoing the top an awful shriek rung out. Clamping my hands over my ears I fell to the ground. Harry closed the egg abruptly and everyone slowly got up.
"Bloody hell was that?" Ron questioned walking into the room. A thick tension grew as Ron and Harry looked at one another and I smirked.
"Alright everyone go back to your knitting, this is going or be uncomfortable enough without you nosy sods listening in." I speak up and the crowd disperses. Harry and Ron had recently had a bit of a row about the tournament and it had been torture and ever since. They were practically acting like me and Rees.
Oh merlin, is this what we are constantly like?
No wonder everyone hates it when we fight. It gets annoying after a while having to hear two people constantly bicker. Shooting one last glance at the two boys I noticed them smiling at one another.
"Looks like they made up." George bumps my shoulder, smiling.
"Yeah I s'pose so." I absentmindedly respond, still thinking about my own rivalry. Maybe it would be best if I stop trying to pick fights with Rees so much. Honestly, the whole thing could be draining and I have to admit I did go a little too far the other night. I for sure thought she was going to curse me right then and there in that hallway.
However, it wasn't like I could just apologize, we were still enemies after all. Maybe if I just stopped being as harsh it wouldn't be too bad. The only problem was that she might not even talk to me now considering the fact she almost bit my head off yesterday. For some odd reason I have this strange urge to talk to her, or rather fight with her, whenever possible. So naturally, I would come up with anything just to engage in our normal bicker.
What the fuck is happening to me?
These feelings were growing increasingly strange as I tried to sort out my emotions towards the Slytherin girl. She is evil and cruel but for some reasons I can't get enough of her. I needed a plan, something so that she would at least bicker with me again. Maybe I could apologize? No, too nice. What if I locked us in a room again like the last time we were civil? That could work... yes something along the lines of that.
"You okay Freddie?" George asks, looking at me concerned.
"More than okay Georgie, more thank okay." I smirk and pat him on the back. He gives me a weary look and I wink at him before walking up the stairs.
It was settled, all I needed to do now was somehow corner the little snake. That should be easy enough, I just needed to do something that would somehow force us together. But I also needed to do in a manner that wouldn't make her want to rip my fucking neck off.
"This is going to be harder than fighting bloody dragons." I mumble and flop down on my bed, still oblivious to my feelings.
