It was Quirrell.

"You!" gasped Harry and their eyes widened in shock as they looked across at their professor, the teacher who was meant to teach defense against the dark arts, was a dar wizard helping the worst dark wizard of them all.

"Now that is what i call a freaking plot twist" Artemis says with raised eyebrows and Harry and Quirrel both glare over at her for a moment but then Quirell looks back over at Harry.

Quirrell smiled. His face wasn't twitching at all."Me," he said calmly. "I wondered whether I'd be meeting you here,Potter, though Miss Black, i must admit that I'm not surprised that you are here, especially with your odd desire of getting into trouble."

"But I thought — Snape —" Harry choked out

"Severus?" Quirrell laughed, and it wasn't his usual quivering treble, either, but cold and sharp. "Yes, Severus does seem the type, doesn't he? Souseful to have him swooping around like an overgrown bat. Next to him, whowould suspect p-p-poor, st-stuttering P-Professor Quirrell?"Harry couldn't take it in but Artemis was glaring at the man, he was the reason volemort was back.

"But Snape tried to kill me!" Harry said and Artemis rolled her eyes at how stupid Harry was acting

"No, no, no. I tried to kill you. Your friend Miss Granger accidentallyknocked me over as she rushed to set fire to Snape at that Quidditch match. She broke my eye contact with you. Another few seconds and I'd have gotyou off that broom. I'd have managed it before then if Snape hadn't beenmuttering a countercurse, trying to save you."

"Snape was trying to save me?" Harry says

"Harry, it wasn't Snape that was doing all of this alright, Snape predicted it was Quirell all along, that's why Snape has been cornering him and threatening him" Artemis tried to explain to her friend

"Of course," said Quirrell coolly. "Why do you think he wanted to refereeyour next match? He was trying to make sure I didn't do it again. Funny, really . . . he needn't have bothered. I couldn't do anything with Dumbledorewatching. All the other teachers thought Snape was trying to stop Gryffindorfrom winning, he did make himself unpopular . . . and what a waste of time, when after all that, I'm going to kill you tonight."Quirrell snapped his fingers.

Ropes sprang out of thin air and wrappedthemselves tightly around Harry and Artemis."You're too nosy to live, Potter. Scurrying around the school onHalloween like that, for all I knew you'd seen me coming to look at what wasguarding the Stone. And Black, you are far to dangerous to keep alive, you could cause a lot of trouble for me"

"You let the troll in?" Harry asks

"Certainly. I have a special gift with trolls — you must have seen what Idid to the one in the chamber back there? Unfortunately, while everyone elsewas running around looking for it, Snape, who already suspected me, wentstraight to the third floor to head me off — and not only did my troll fail tobeat you to death, that three-headed dog didn't even manage to bite Snape'sleg off properly. Now, wait quietly, Potter and Black. I need to examine this interesting mirror."It was only then that Harry and Artemis realized what was standing behind Quirrell. Itwas the Mirror of Erised."This mirror is the key to finding the Stone," Quirrell murmured, tappinghis way around the frame. "Trust Dumbledore to come up with somethinglike this . . . but he's in London . . . I'll be far away by the time he getsback. . . ."

"I saw you and Snape in the forest —" Harry blurted out.

"Yes," said Quirrell idly, walking around the mirror to look at the back."He was on to me by that time, trying to find out how far I'd got. Hesuspected me all along. Tried to frighten me — as though he could, when Ihad Lord Voldemort on my side. . . ."Quirrell came back out from behind the mirror and stared hungrily into it."I see the Stone . . . I'm presenting it to my master . . . but where is it?"Harry and Artemis struggled against the ropes binding them, but they didn't give.
