Artemis Black - Fred Weasley

Troll in the dungeon

Octavia and Artemis had both found Hermione in the girls bathroom, she had been crying and the two girls comforted her for over an hour but hen Hermione had insisted that they go to the great hall for dinner, Artemis was reluctant but Hermione assured her that she would join them down in the great hall after she got cleaned up.

Artemis was sitting between the twins again, for the first time since yesterdays breakfast, they had both apologised to her and continuously said that they did not hang out with her because they pity her, Artemis was never one to hold grudges so she had happily began joking around and laughing with the twins again five minutes after she had entered the great hall and they had dragged her over to the Gryffindor table.

Artemis watched as Harry and Ron walked into the great hall and she glared at the two boys, her attention was mainly on Ron though. The two boys noticed the girls gaze and tried to avoid making eye contact with her, though unfortunately for them, the only open spot at the Gryffindor table was in front of Artemis and the twins

"Hello boys" Artemis greeted them with raised eyebrows

"hi artemis" the two boy replied quietly and then started shovelling food onto their plates and dug in

"this place looks bloody brilliant, doesn't it?" Artemis asks the twins as she looks around at the great hall. A thousand live bats fluttered from the walls and ceiling while a thousand more swooped over the tables in low black clouds, making the candles in the pumpkins stutter.

"Hey Fred, wanna hear a joke?" Artemis asked the boy with a grin, he smiled at her and nodded, shoving a sausage into his mouth

"sure" Fred said with a grin, sauce running down his face and the girl noticed and grabbed her napkin and quickly wiped it for him, not thinking about what she was doing and not seeing it as a big problem as she did it for all her friends, especially Adira, who had noticeably been a very clumsy person.

Freds cheeks had flushed red and her actions and a few Gryffindors were looking at them with wide eyes and she had absolutely no idea why "okay then..." she muttered out and then placed the napkin on the table awkwardly but then the smile came back onto her face "how do you count cows?" she asked and even though she hadn't finished the joke yet, she looked as if she were about to birst out in laughter

"I don't know Artie, how do you count cows?" Fred asks, grinning widely as he noticed the sparkle in her eyes, when he stared into them, amongst the brown he noticed small speckles of gold that you would only be able to notice if you looked closely, they were beautiful

"with a COWculator" she said an burst out laughing, Fred and the others around couldn't help but laugh, even though it wasn't exactly a great joke "okay okay okay, I got another one" she says and then Fred nods his head, waiting to see what joke she would tell next "what do you call a cow with two legs?"

"disabled?" Fred said with a grin but Artemis glared at him, not finding his joke funny

"lean beef" she replied and started laughing again and fred joined in

"that was a pretty good one, you got any others?" Fred asked in amusement, loving the sound of her laugh

"yeah, of course I do, what do you c-" Artemis started but was cut off by someone throwing open the great hall doors violently.

Professor Quirrell came sprinting into the hall, his turban askew and terror on his face. Everyone stared as he reached Professor Dumbledore's chair, slumped against the table, and gasped, "Troll — in the dungeons — thought you ought to know." He then sank to the floor in a dead faint. There was an uproar. It took several purple firecrackers exploding from the end of Professor Dumbledore's wand to bring silence.

"Prefects," Dumbledore rumbled loudly, "lead your Houses back to the dormitories immediately!" Percy was in his element and Artemis couldn't help but think that he was her least favourite Weasley. Artemis went to go to the Hufflepuff table but Fred grabbed her wrist in his hand, she turned to look at him in confusion.

"what's wrong Fred, I have to get to my house" artemis said in confusion

"Make sure you get to your dorm okay, I know what you're like but this is dangerous okay, I don't want you getting hurt" Fred said, his eyebrows furrowed in worry

"don't worry about me Fred, I can look after myself okay" she said and tried to joke it off but he looked dead serious

"please just make sure you stay safe" Fred pleaded with her

"Don't worry Freddie" she says softly and then pulls her arm out of his grip and goes to find the Hufflepuffs who had already left, she quickly went sprinting down the stairs and then finally caught up with her house, Adira, Lily and Lindsey were all looking around in worry until they spotted the familiar brown eyes and locks

"where were you, we were worried sick" Lily said, her voice laced with concern and she grabbed the girls arm

"honestly, are you trying to give us all heart attacks, we get that you can't help being rebellious but at least tell us where you are going next time" Lindsey scolded and they continued rushing down to the Hufflepuff basement

"I was with Fred" Artemis said, not understanding why they were making such a bug deal out of something so little

"doing what?" Lily asked in confusion

"talking," Artemis said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world

"uhuh, sure, talking" Lindsey said and wiggled her eyebrows with a grin on her face and Artemis gave her a confused look

"I have no idea what on earth you are talking about" Artemis said and by now all of her friends were grinning knowingly at her, even though there was currently a troll roaming around Hogwarts

"oh come on Artie, no need to play dumb, we see the way you look at the twins, one of them more than the other, we knew you liked one we just weren't sure which one, but you just confirmed its Fred" Lindsey continued and Artemis rolled her eyes at her friends silly behaviour

"that's ridiculous, the twins are just two of my friends, nothing more, nothing less, it's a simple as that" Artemis said "I have no time to worry about boys, my timetable is already packed full of classes and causing trouble. Now is this really the conversation that we should be having when there is a troll, walking around the halls?"

"How could a troll get in?" Adira asked in fear as they climbed a set of stairs.

"Don't ask me, they're supposed to be really stupid, but from what I've heard, they are extremely dangerous, it's a good think that a professor found it and not a student" said Lindsey "Maybe Peeves let it in for a Halloween joke."

They made it back to the common room and then settled into their dorms and pulled their night gowns on "they are quite dashing though aren't they, those twins?" Lindsey said with a grin and the girls all giggled, but Artemis felt a small burning sensation in the bottom of her gut as she began to think about Fred and Lindsey together, holding hands as they walked down the halls of the school, laughing together as he carries her books for her

"lets just go to bed, I am awfully tired" artemis muttered under her breath and then laid down and pulled the covers over her body and used her wand to turn the lights off. She stared up at the ceiling in silence, none of the girls said anything and the room was filled with an awkward silence, but eventually, one by one, the girls all began to fall asleep, Artemis being the last and her dreams were filled with red hair, brown eyes and freckled cheeks.
