Scott and Stiles had left to take Liam to the hospital that afternoon, leaving Venus and Isaac to their own devices. The boy had promised Malia he would help her study for maths, so they had been upstairs in his room for the past couple hours. Although Venus was almost certain it wasn't just studying anymore. The girl herself had been sat on their porch steps, practicing more plant manipulation, her Economics assignment quickly forgotten behind her.

Over the past few weeks she had finally learned how to make the grass grow faster, as well as how to move it the way she wanted it to. She was currently attempting to grow a flower in their front yard, her eyebrows furrowed and her tongue sticking out a little in concentration.

"What are you doing?" Stiles laughs, looking at her from the sidewalk and startling her.

"Stiles! I almost had it that time." Venus whines, throwing her hands up in exasperation.

"Had what?" the boy sits down next to her on the step, watching as her fingers start to twist over the grass. His jaw drops as he witnesses it grow a couple inches and wrap itself around his ankles.

"Cool right?" she smiles, clearly very proud of herself and Stiles couldn't help but admire the way she got so excited.

He smiles back at her, feeling the butterflies erupt in his stomach as her eyes twinkle in the moonlight. "Very. Why were you studying out here though?"

"Isaac's upstairs with Malia." she explains. "They always say they're studying but I don't think math is supposed to make you moan like that."

"Oh, Vee, gross!" Stiles laughs at her misfortune, his face slightly scrunched in disgust. "Well whenever she's here, you're always welcome at mi casa."

"Thinking about taking another trip to Mexico?" she raises her eyebrows at the boy mockingly.

"You never know when we might need it again."

Silence engulfs the pair as they sit there for a minute, watching the stars glimmer above them in the night sky. Venus always liked to do this every once in a while, picking out the planet she was technically named after every time. Her mother always used to tell her that Venus was always the brightest star in the night sky, the girl now thinking of it always as Willow watching over her.

"What are you thinking about?" Stiles whispers, not wanting to disturb the night air.

"My mom." Venus replies honestly. "See that star? That's Venus. She used to always bring me out here at night just so we could look for it."

Stiles felt warmth fill his body almost instantly at the girls words, he knew it wasn't easy losing a parent but Venus always spoke so positively about death it was hard to think about it badly when he was around her. He admired how she shared things with him so honestly, making him decide he wanted to do the same.
