PART 9

I rub my eyes and sit up. I look around the room and dont see Alex "must've left for work" I said to myself. I got out of bed and brushed my hair I French braided it and put some ripped skinny jeans on along with a white shirt and putting on some converse. I walked out of the room and walk into the bathroom without paying attention I sat on the toilet I finished my business I go to leave and I hear the shower curtain pull open I look wide eyed and it was Derek he immediately grabbed a towel i covered my eyes and ran out. I bumped into Meredith. I looked at her my eyes widened "woah y/n are you ok" she ask "yea I just um I didnt realize Derek was in the shower" I laughed. she laughed at me. I walked past her and went to the kitchen I see Alex, Jackson, and April in the kitchen. I walk in and sit beside Alex he was eating toast. Jackson passed me some toast "I thought you guys were at work" I laughed "nope not yet but we gotta get going soon" Jackson says I took a bite of my toast "got anything exciting happening?" I ask "Alex does" April says. he looks at her "what Alex come on tell me" I beg "just bringing some African kids here for surgery so im trying to get that all together" he says "thats great Alex" I said taking another bite of toast. Derek walked in and looked at me then looked away I looked down. they all look at Derek then me who was fixing him a cup of coffee. they look at me "what" I ask "you walked in on Derek in the shower didnt you y/n" April laughed Alex and Jackson look at me waiting for a answer "yea.." I laugh. they laugh at me "you ready to go guys" Derek said they all hurried to get there things. I just sat there watching them all rush around. Alex looks at me "you wanna come to the hospital?" he ask I smile and nod and rush out to the car with them shutting the door behind me

*at the hospital*

"do y'all always run late" I ask laughing a little as we walk in "basically" April said we walk to what I assume is the attending lounge. I stand outside waiting. dont wanna get introuble. they walk out with scrubs on. "wanna do rounds with us" April asked "love to" I smile walking with Alex and April. Jackson walked the other way with dr Shepard

We walked to the nurses desk and grabbed some charts.
Some more doctors joined us as we walked into a room 

"this is sam Kenton 55, hes here for a bowel resection due to chronic mesenteric inchemia. this is Sams third surgery with us" 

"third times a charm" the boy what I assumeed to be his son said "and this is Sams son Jason" April said. yep I was right his son. "he should be at school not here playing nursemaid" sam said. Jason turned to look at him "its just one semester think of how much money im saving you" he laughs looking ay him dad. "im afraid your not getting any smarter though. kids not very smart" sam laughed "wonder where I get that from" Jason laughs "did he just call me stupid" sam asked chuckling "I believe he did" April laughed along with everyone else 

"kepner just give me the bullet" Alex said. I looked at him and slightly hit him in the arm. he looks at me I give him a rude stare. 

"This is sam Kenton, 55, presents with chronic mesenteric inchemia , scheduled for a exploratory laparotomy and possible bowel resection" April said. "thank you" Alex said and with that they walked out. except me and April. Jason pulled April aside and I followed"what about after surgery will I have to help him to the bathroom? I know he will be embarrassed. my mom was here for his other surgeries and I wanna you know be there" I knod understanding. "I wanna be prepared" he then said "there are a couple of possible outcomes. and it all sorta depends on what dr. karev  finds during surgery. ill have him come and talk you through them ok?" "is that guy cool? he seems a little douchey" he says "he can be a little douchey but I can assure you thats he's a very good doctor." I say "hes good, hes a good guy and a very good surgeon" April said. "thank you" he smiles at us. me and April walks out "what Alex problem?" I ask April "he thinks hes done enough bowel resects and dont want another one" she laughed as we walked to the next room.

*at lunch*

we all sat at a table

"y/n you wanna go to the NICU" Alex asks taking a bite of his food. "yes please" I smile. I didnt eat I just sat there as they ate and talked about everything.

Alex finished his food. we walked to the elevator and pressed the button and got in "why were you so rude earlier" I look at him " I dont know" he says putting his hands in his pockets. the elevator bell dings we walked through the double doors and Alex ran to Ryker, his pulse was dropping. Alex checked him, "he needs to go to surgery immediately. page Shepard" he yelled to the nurses running in with a crash cart. his heart started going up. I stood there as everyone rushed around me. frozen.
