The Babies

PART 21

I wake up and im alone. I panicked because I dont have the babies. I get out of the bed and panic. I see them sleeping in the crib. I take a breathe. I crawl back in the bed and go back to sleep. 

I wake up later and roll out of the bed. I fall on the floor and groan. "ow" i say. 

Jackson comes in and sees me on the floor. "y/n why are you on the floor" he ask "I felt like it" I groan. my phone rings, I reach my hand for it, and grab it I answer it "hello" "did I wake you?" "no im just on the floor" I say. I get off the floor and Jackson walks out. "leia are you sure about me coming home" I whisper into the phone "yes y/n, mama's in the hospital and she isnt doing well. you need to come say your goodbye before its to late" I begin to cry. "alright my flight leaves out tonight. it'll land tomorrow morning at 5 you better be waiting at the airport " I say wiping away my tears. I hangup the phone I put some ripped jeans and a tight red shirt. I go downstairs in the kitchen. no one was home. they must've all left for work. I fix some toast I I grab a glass and fill it with water, I grab my plate and cup I turn around and see Alex "shit" I jump and spill water all over me "seriously?" I laugh. "Im sorry"  he says "why arent you at work?" I ask "Im working night shift" he says.  "oh he speaks?" I say surprised he give me a look like are you serious 

that works perfectly he would never know I was gone "was that jo in your bedroom or another intern last night?" I ask cleaning up the water off the floor "jo" he said fixing him something to eat. I grab my plate "bye Alex" I laugh he watches as I walk away. I walk into my room and sit down on the bed and eat. I finish and fix baby bottles I feed them both. I change there diaper and put back in the crib. "hey Alex will you watch the twins im gonna take a shower" I yell. I hear footsteps and he comes in the room "whats going on with us, one minutes were talking the next were not?" I ask when he sits down on the bed with the babies "y/n to be honest I really dont know" he says "what do mean you dont know?" "im still trying to figure It out ok!" he yells. I walk out of the room to the bathroom. I turn the shower on and let the hot water hit me. I enjoy my shower, I get out and wrap a towel around me. I walk into my room and Alex looks at me wrapped in a towel. he gets up and leaves. I put on some shorts and one of Alex shirts that he gave to me a while ago. well not gave, I stole.... I sit down on the bed and there was a knock on the door "im clothed now" I laugh. he comes in and lays beside me in the bed. the twins were laying in between us. "do you remember the Time when we first met" I asked playing with Rykers hands. Alex was staring at the ceiling with everleigh pressed against his chest. he chuckled "yea, do you remember?" he ask "yea" I say slowly he looks at me. we just lay there in silence, no fighting, nothing. its kind of comforting "why'd you let a girl get in-between us?" I ask. he looks at me "I dont know" "that is what happened right? nothing else?" I ask giving him a funny look. "I honestly dont know y/n" he says I just ignore it. I begin to fall asleep

-ALEX POV-

I lay there holding everligh as y/n is sleeping just enjoying the comfort. I lay there staring at the ceiling at thinking about what ive done  

I messed it all up im so stupid. she was my best friend and I let jo get inbetween that. I freaking intern?? seriously Alex you were supposed to be there. 

STOP PUSHING HER AWAY AND TELL HER HOW YOU FEEL!

 I mentally yell at myself im so frusturated. i started to get sleepy....

-Y/N'S POV-

I get up and see im in the bed alone. I look down at the crib and Alex is putting them in there. he kisses both there heads. he walks out shutting the door behind him.  I check the time it was starting to get late. I got out of bed and walked down the hall. I see Alex's door cracked open. he was pulling a shirt on... I just stare... he's so hot. he fix's his hair I zoned out. he opens the door with me standing there he looks down at me "oh hey y/n I thought you were sleeping" he says softly. "you woke me up when you left the bed" "oh im sorry y/n" "its fine Alex." he walks down the stairs to the kitchen. I jump up on the counter and sit there as Alex moves around the kitchen "you got anything big happening" I ask "just the normal, been still working on that African kid thing" he says "oh, are you excited for it?" I ask "very." he chuckles 

he grabs his jacket and keys. I hop off the counter and follow him to the door I stand in the doorway "I gotta get going but ill see you in the morning?" he ask "yea" I say hesitantly. he walks to his car and opens the door. he doesn't get in though. 

he walks up to me. he looks me in the eyes "y/n" he whispers "kiss me Alex..." I whisper back. he cups my face with both of his hands....I put my hand on the back of his head and run my fingers through his hair. the kiss was slow, passionate, sweet... he pulls away and looks at me he places his head against mine I connect our lips again...he pulled away he smiled at me. I could feel my cheeks turning red. he lets go of my face and walks to his car. he gets in his car and drives off

I shut the door and lock it. I slide my back down the door till I reach the floor. "what have I done" I say running my hands through my hair. I get off the floor. I go to the kitchen and begin packing the twins bottles and formula and everything we have and need to leave. I zip up both full. diaper bags and leave them on the counter. I go upstairs and grab my suitcase. I unzip it and pack my clothes. I zip my bag up. I grab another small bag and pack the babies clothes. I zip it up and take both bags down the stairs. I put them by the door. I go back upstairs and sit on the bed and breathe in. "im seriously doing this?" I ask myself.  everleigh starts crying. I walk over to her "whats wrong baby?" I talk to her. I pick her up and change her diaper. I feed her and then Ryker. the front door opens and I hear voices. I see Jackson in the door frame "shit, all of you guys are scaring me today" I laugh he flops down on the bed beside me "please dont leave" he whines "I know Jackson ill be back before you know it" I say. I put everligh and Ryker in the carriers and then take them downstairs. 

everyone was waiting for me. "taxi's here y/n" April says I smile at them. they take my bags to the car and then they put the babies in. I walk back up to everyone "promise you'll call you everyday so we know your ok?" mark says "yes" "and promise to come back in one piece in 2 months no later!" Jackson says "oh and no fights" Meredith adds. I hug lexie and then April. I hug Derek then mark squeezes me extra tight. I then get to Jackson "your not going" he says squeezing me and not letting go "Jackson I will be back soon I promise I just need this....you know this Jackson ill be back before you know It. you guys will be fine without me. but me on the other hand I dont know. you guys have helped a lot. especially with the twins and your my family. I wont be gone forever. ill see you guys in 2 months" I laugh I hug Meredith. she hugs back and whispers in my ear "be safe, text me please" she says. we pull away "and guys remember. dont tell Alex" I say "we wont. be safe. and come back better than before" lexie says. they all stood in the doorway and watched as I walked to the taxi I opened the door to get in and looked one last time "goodbye seattle. ill be back" I say to myself

I wave at them

get in. shut the door. 

and on the way to the airport.....
