Maddox's PoV

We all sat in a large room. The children were with Grace and Demetri who was still bed bound. Mainly because Grace wouldn't let him out of the bed.

If it was up to me, I wouldn't be in a 20 foot radius of these Italian scums but I know it's not up to me and plus they did help us escape so I can't exactly kill them either.

The room was silent and I'm guessing that was because no one really knew what to say.

I'd never talk to half of these people in my life and the other half I couldn't talk to or it would be even more awkward.

My eyes flicked towards where Armani and Luciano sat to see a woman there too. A very familiar woman.

That scar.

Holy fuck.

I tilted my head to the side and examined her face trying to make what I was seeing make sense. How the fuck isn't she dead?

The explosion should have killed her as well. How is she alive?

I knew it was her because of her scar. No one else would have that one specific scar.

And her eyes, her skin, her hair. They all remind me of her.

It has to be her.

"Maddox?"
I heard Adrik whisper in my ear but due to the room being so quiet it was much like he spoke normally.

Everyone turned to us including her and we just stared at each other.

After a moment, her eyes widened and it seemed as if realisation dawned on her. Her whole body tensed and Armani looked down at her worried.
"How aren't you dead? How are you alive? That explosion was supposed to kill everyone including you."

Her throat bobbed and she licked her lips seemingly struggling to find what to say.
"Maddox. Now is not the time."
Katina warned me.

I shook my head and kept my eyes on her.
"No. No. I just want to know how she's alive."

"H-How are you alive?"
Her voice met my ears and I was quite surprised not only by how well she spoke but because of the fact Armani pulled her closer to him almost to hide her.

The last time I heard her talk she couldn't speak that well. I guess her normal life has treated her well.

"I wasn't going to die in there but you were supposed to along with my father."
The room went quiet again.
