Lost things remind us of the things we've misplaced, the things we may lose in the future.
Found things remind us of the things we never want to lose.
Annabeth Carter-Pierce came from a long line of strong and independent women who taught her to be great. Both, her Aunt Peggy and her mother were great examples of never-ending heroism. Growing up, she wanted to be just like them.
Obviously, Tony Stark just had to be the piece on the board that didn't fit. She really didn't mind though- Tony had crawled through her heart and created a home where no one but he could reside.
Tony Stark was Annabeth's everything. He was the reason she found light in the darkest tunnels.
But it's very easy to lose all that ever mattered to you and with a loss that never seemed to leave Annabeth, she left Tony.
