(Alex left a year ago) 

(Jo is in the OR with some interns operating on a 8 year old with a liver lac) 

Jo: Suction. 

Vasquez: Here? 

Jo: Yes. 

(She suctions) 

Jo: Okay. Do you want to close? 

Vasquez: R- really? 

Jo: Yes or No Vasquez. C'mon. 

Vasquez: Yes! Yes! Okay! Thank you!

Jo: Uh Huh.

(Vasquez starts closing when all of a sudden his stats start dropping and she starts bleeding) 

Vasquez: I- I don't know- 

Jo: Move! 

(She steps in and gets in there) 

Jo: Her sutures burst, I can't do this alone! 

(The intern tries to get in there) 

Jo: No! I need a grown up! Go page the head of Peds! 

Vasquez: I- 

Jo: Now Vasquez! 

(The intern runs over to the phone in the OR and Calls the desk) 

Vasquez: Doctor Wilson. 

Jo: What!? 

Vasquez: They said that doctor Hayes is out sick, The only other Peds attending is a um- 

(She says not knowing who he is) 

Vasquez: A doctor Alex Karev? 

(Jo looks up, confused and numb)

(The BP keeps dropping and Jo goes back to surgery) 

Jo: IS there anyone else? A fifth year resident? 

Vasquez: Everyone is in surgery or at home. 

Jo: We don't have time for that. Page Karev. 

(All of the nurses and help in the OR look around at each other knowing that they have a history) 

Vasquez: Okay. 

(She has them page Alex to the OR)

Jo: Go scrub back in. I need the hands. 

Vasquez: Okay! 

(She runs in and scrubs)

(2 minutes later) 

(Vasquez is still scrubbing) 

(The scrub room door opens and Alex storms in) 

Alex: Intern. What's your name?m

(He doesn't look up into the OR) 

Vasquez: Cynthia Vasquez.
