Esme Ambrose (POV)
I didn't expect the platform to look this way, normal. It looked completely normal given all that had been happening. I only saw a few first years and from the parent's faces I could see fear over their child. My parents didn't come, it was just me, I couldn't find any of my friends till I spotted a blonde in the distance.
When she turned she came straight towards me with a relieving smile, "I haven't found anyone."
I hugged Adaline immediately and she gave in as we pulled away she, of course, looked at my neck, "It's getting better."
I couldn't help but touch it, I do that now whenever anyone says something about it like I can just make it go away.
"Come on we should start getting in," She advised.
Would it really only be us two?
Out of our friends, Adaline and I were the only ones to come back?
I nodded and followed, obviously it was pretty quiet among the 7th years. It was sad because it should be the complete opposite, this was our last year.
That was something I couldn't believe myself, instead of being sad I felt relieved knowing I wouldn't be coming back. The compartments were filling up quicker than I thought till we finally found an empty one, I was heading inside with Adaline till something caught my eye.
I saw a guy shoving a few people as he was walking, it wasn't just anyone. It was Anzac.
"Anzac..." I said so lowly like a whisper.
When he looked up it was almost like he did the same and ran towards me.
I met him halfway with a warm hug. He pulled me in tightly and kissed my forehead, "God... you're okay..."
"You are too..." I slowly let him go as our eyes connected the feeling didn't last long when Anzac turned his attention else where. I looked behind me but Anzac stopped me before I could fully turn my head, "Where are you sitting?"
"A few compartments over there," I directed him, he pulled Adaline in big hug too.
I was surprised to see Blaise already in there, he rubbed my hair before hugging me, "I missed you Blaise."
"I missed you just as much."
Everything felt okay at this moment. It was like nothing else was going on, we were all okay.
All except two of us, two friends I still haven't seen. However, the atmosphere quickly went away. Small conversations formed around us but that was it.
I must've fallen asleep because Anza woke up and we weren't even there yet. "What's going on?" Adaline must've been asleep too.
"They're here."
"Who?"
"Death eaters." Anzac looked at me directly. "Adaline switch spots."
She did exactly that, even pulling in closer to Blaise, he held her arm tightly as Anzac wrapped his arm around me.
"Is that why we stopped?" I whispered, "Anzac..."
"You're okay." He comforted, "They're just looking for Potter."
Everyone here was trying to be strong, I could see Blaise's hand clenching over Adaline and her not trying to look at anyone. I touched my neck again but Anzac noticed, "No Esme."
He pulled my hand down, "You're fine."
They were walking down our compartments now, all the fear went away when they just walked right past us. More relief came over me when I couldn't hear their footsteps anymore.
