Chapter 67: The Beginning of the End

Neville pushed the door open and shouted into the space outside of it, "oi! Listen up you lot! I've brought you a surprise."

"Not more of Aberforth's cooking, I hope! We'll be surprised if we can digest it!" Seamus Finnegan shouted from the other side.

Neville smiled back at you all briefly before turning back to the room, "no, something better."

Then he climbed down a ladder from what turned out to be another portrait door and revealed you and your friends to the room. Gasps filled the room as you stepped into view and climbed down into the Room of Requirement where hammocks and makeshift beds were set up all over the room, and students lounged all around the place.

"Look who it is!!" Neville announced to the shocked group, "didn't I tell you?!" Shocked and awed voices echoed around the room

"It's Harry!"

"HARRY POTTER?"

"Is that Hermione?"

"It's Ron Weasley!"

"Look, it's Y/N! And Fred and George!"

The crowd whooped and roared and burst into applause, and then as you climbed down the ladder into the room, you all found yourselves engulfed in hugs and pats on the backs.

A small figure launched themselves at you, nearly knocking you off your feet, and you pulled back and shrieked. "BEA!!" you gasped and she had tears pouring down her cheeks and you cried as you yanked her back into your arms and hugged her tightly, having not seen your friend in so long.

"I'm so glad you're alright! If it wasn't for Fred sending Lee the message, we wouldn't have known if you were even alive!" she cried and she wiped her tears from her face with her sleeve.

You held her shoulders and looked at her, "I'm so happy to see you, you have no idea how relieved and proud I was when I heard your voice on the radio."

She chuckled bashfully, pulling her thick black hair back into a braid as she talked to you, "Mum and Dad brought me and my brothers into hiding in September, but I couldn't sit and do nothing so I went to yours, but you were already gone. I stayed there for a while with Lee and then we had to relocate so we operated from the back of the Hog's Head, and then we came here."

She gestured to a small table and radio set up in the corner and before you could ask where Lee was, the dark skinned boy crashed into you and flung you over his shoulder and spun you around. You laughed wildly and Lee put you down and you hugged him properly and kissed his cheek, squeezing him so tight that you worried too late that you might break his ribs.

He didn't complain but when he pulled back he grinned at you, and the twins joined having already reunited with Lee while you were with Bea. He slung his arm over Bea's shoulder, "she makes a marvellous Hogwarts correspondent, doesn't she?" you and the twins agreed and then Lee looked over your shoulder, "and there's my sexy secretary!"

You spun around and saw Jack Abbott approaching slowly, and Lee grabbed his hand and pulled him over to your group. Jack chuckled and kissed Lee's temple fondly, "you keep telling yourself that, Lee."

"Jack, it's good to see you," Fred said, shaking the Hufflepuff's hand, and you and George greeted him too. You remembered how hurt Lee was when Jack disappeared so you studied him carefully and kept your voice neutral, "what happened to you, Jack?"

Jack could sense you were feeling protective over Lee and he smiled in understanding, "I found him after Christmas. I know I shouldn't have left like I did, and I'm grateful that you were all there for Lee when I wasn't, but I promise you I thought that I was keeping him safe. After what happened to Mum, I couldn't bear the thought of Lee being in danger by associating with us."
